Really bad vignetting up to about 45mm
Edit: Updated review after the seller changed the description, this is a review for the standard vented lens hood.The description used to be very specific and say that there were no problems with vignetting at ~22mm and above, but it seems they've changed the wording after reviews and complaints, although weirdly they've updated it to recommend the standard vented size for focal lengths of 18~55mm.As you can see from my photos that is untrue and if you plan on using any lens with a focal length of less than 50mm on a full frame sensor, the standard size will not work as advertised, because of really bad vignetting as you can see from my images.Even on an APS-C sensor you'd be looking at vignetting up to around 30mm (45mm full frame equivalent). Well made - and they do the job I specifically wanted them for - Can't be faulted for the price!
Based on other reviewers opinions, I took a punt and ordered three of these in different sizes to suit my lenses.I can confirm that for the price, they are excellent bits of kit. The threads fit perfectly onto filter threads (either on filters or the camera lenses themselves). They can be firmly screwed tight, and are still easy to unscrew when required.My reason for purchasing these was to enable easier use of circular polarizing filters. It's always a bit of a pain trying to rotate a polariser when you have a normal lens hood on. - You either have to try to rotate the filter with the end of a fingertip, by poking it down inside the depths of the lens hood, or you have to take the lens hood off. - Neither of which options is ideal.However with these hoods/caps, you can screw the hood onto the front of the polarizer, which you can then easily rotate by turning the hood. - And, you still have the ability to put the hood's cap on to protect everything between shots.As a small caveat to this set-up, it's possible that vignetting might be a problem, as you will now have not only the filter, but the threaded part of the hood itself, in front of your lens. In my case, to avoid that possibility, I'm using over-sized polarisers with a step-up ring between the lens and polariser. - So I've got step-up ring, polarizing filter, then this lens hood, on the front of the lens.Works perfectly on my 18-70mm zoom, (and every other lens I've so far tried it on), without any signs of vignetting at any focal length.Manufacturing construction is of really good quality. The hoods are made of alloy, and the caps are made of plastic, and it's worth noting that the squeeze clips that attach the cap to the hood work smoothly and grip the hood exceptionally well. They certainly won't come off accidentally. (Although there's always the chance that they might if knocked strongly against something).I've drilled a small hole near the rim of each cap, and attached a short piece of black cord, which can then be looped around the camera strap just as a "belts and braces" job to prevent losing the caps if they should ever happen to get knocked off.For the price, I think it would be churlish to fault these caps/hoods in any way at all, and have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

Could eventually damage the lens operating system.
Once the hood is fully screwed on it fits perfectly however the trouble comes when you turn off the camera and the lens retracts back into the camera body. The fitted hood prevents the lens from fully retracting and when the camera is turned on again the lens will not operate out at all until you screw off the hood and switch camera off and then on again. I suspect this will eventually damage the camera electrics and any insurance could be void as a result of a third party attachment not fitting correctly. Have returned for a refund.

Good product, just the wrong one for me
5 stars because I can't fault the product, but...I got the 37mm standard vented hood for my Olympus 14-42 EZ pancake lens. There is very slight vignetting at 14mm. I should have ordered the wide angle version. It's a perfect fit on the thread though and came with a 52mm lens cap. The opening to the lens hood also has a thread for 52mm filters. However it's not worth bothering with filters. Light enters through the vents which creates reflections off the filter and into the lens. Why didn't I think of that before ordering?So good product, as described, but I ordered the wrong thing really. My bad.

Good product - Works well - Especially for use with Polarising filters
I've ordered the wide angle versions of these SIOTI lens hoods previously, and it is on the strength of my experiences with those that I ordered this long hood version.I accept that these generic hoods are never physically as long as a dedicated "lens specific" hood would be, but they have the distinct advantage of being able to screw them onto the front of a lens-mounted polarising filter.Thus enabling the polarising filter to be rotated by the hood itself, and no longer needing to poke one's fingers down inside the depths of the hood and risking getting fingerprints onto the glass of the filter.The 77mm size I bought has an overall depth of 35mm (excluding the threaded part).Construction is good quality, with the hood itself being made of alloy, and the lens-cap being made of plastic.Again, the ability to add the lens-cap whilst the hood id still in place on the lens is very useful.It comes complete with a piece of black cord, and is pre-drilled to accept that cord, so that you can attach it to the camera and prevent accidental loss of the cap.At about a quarter of the price of what one would have to pay for a manufacturer's own brand lens hood & cap, there's nothing really to fault about this product, and I have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Very good hood
Purchased to work in conjunction with a stepping ring to combat vignetting on my camcorder from the original camera hood.Who ever thought of fitting a lens cap to the lens hood needs to be applauded - what a good idea and why hasn't anyone thought of this before? Nice touch with the inclusion of a lens cleaning cloth as well.

Non dò 4 stelle perchè a livello tattile ed estetico non mi soddisfa completamente . Non ci sono molte altre alternative da 39 mm , però . A posteriori penso che sarebbe stato preferibile fosse stato privo di asole. Sono indeciso se tenerlo o pravare a prenderne un altro completamente chiuso , ma per quello che ho visto sporgerebbe troppo rispetto a questo e montandolo su un'obbiettivo pancake vanificherei un pò la compattezza dell'accoppiata corpo+obbiettivo.

Perfecto
Lo compré para usar en una Sony A6300 y va perfecto. Es metálico, ligero, no viñetea en absoluto (ni incluso poniendo el zoom en longitud focal equivalente a 24 mm. en cámaras de formato completo) y viene con una tapa que acopla en la parte externa del parasol, lo que hace que sea muy cómodo ponerla y quitarla. Una compra muy recomendable, y más por su precio.

il tappo del copri obiettivo non è adeguato e non protegge la lente
Ho preso questo paraluce per , ovviamente, evitare i riflessi ma anche per proteggere la lente anteriore dell'obbiettivo senza ricorrere al solito filtro uv, l'obiettivo è un 45 mm tessar della zeiss per contax;arriva il paraluce, attacco 49 ma vedo che il tappo copri obiettivo non è della stessa misura, ma è 58mm;la cosa si spiega considerando che si mette sul paraluce e non all'interno di esso;Bene e cosa cambia avere il tappo all'esterno del paraluce piuttosto che all'interno come accade di solito?Cambia che la lente dell'obbiettivo non è adeguatamente protetta e esposta alla polvere e sporcizia.Vediamo la prima foto già esteticamente non è il massimo perché il tappo copre completamente l'obbiettivo, non si vede ma sotto il tappo c'è il paraluce con l'obiettivo, ma la cosa peggiore è la seconda foto dove si vede che nonostante il tappo montato il tipo di paraluce con le "finestre" permette il passaggio di polvere e sporcizia;Ma vediamo lo stesso paraluce e lo stesso obiettivo con un altro tappo della misura esatta dell'obiettivo (49) nella terza foto e già esteticamente si vede un netto miglioramento e dal punto di vista funzionale non crea problemi per il tipo di tappo che ha la presa dall'interno, vedere quarta foto;ma soprattutto si può vedere nella quinta foto che con il tappo della misura esatta la lente anteriore dell'obbiettivo è protetta da polvere e sporcizia, le finestre del paraluce restano fuori e il tappo fa il suo dovere che è quello di proteggere la lente, se no uno che lo mette a fare?Quindi questo paraluce che è buono, non vignetta viene venduto con un tappo che serve a poco, e peggiora l'estetica della fotocamera.. ci voleva assai a mettere il tappo della giusta misura, tanto più che il paraluce è predisposto per accogliere anche un tappo della giusta misura perché ha la filettatura per trattenerlo? Quanto sarebbe costato un euro in più? Cinquanta centesimi? Certo costa a me che ho dovuto comprare un altro tappo per proteggere la lente per questo il giudizio non può essere positivo nonostante che il paraluce in sé sia di buona qualità.

Funcional y muy buenos materiales.
El parasol está fabricado en materiales que garantizan durabilidad y protección del objetivo.PROS:- Trae su propia tapa ya que el poner el parasol cambia el tamaño.- Permite a mayores poner filtros ya que dispone de una rosca donde poder colocarlos.CONTRAS:- Ninguno hasta el momento.RECOMENDABLE ??- Al 100% es un accesorio necesario tanto por temas de controlar la luz como de protección del objetivo.

Quasi unica scelta
Mi serviva un paraluce per un obiettivo Fuji 27mm che appunto non ne è fornito. La scelta era tra questo ed un altro secondo me più ingombrante. Utile come praticità il tappo che chiude il paraluce anche se però quest ultimo essendo "forato" non protegge al massimo l'obiettivo. Obbligata la scelta di questo paraluce che purtroppo risulta ingombrante su un obiettivo (il mio) che sporge di soli 2 cm. L'ideale sarebbe un paraluce in gomma di quelli "colassabili" ma che della misura (39mm) non ho trovato. Per la qualità costruttiva forse potrebbe avere mezza stella in più.

Efectivo y sin viñeteo
Lo compré para un M Zuiko 17 1.8, que viene sin parasol y el original que vende olympus es prohibitivamente caro. Es la versión gran angular y hace su función perfectamente, sin viñeteo en las esquinas. Como lo tengo montado en el objetivo permanentemente, lo compré con tapa para usar ésta, en vez de la original del objetivo y está bien, se ajusta perfectamente al parasol. El pañito de microfibra también está bien.

Ho preso questo paraluce per la mia sony a5100, per il suo obiettivo da 16-50 (equiv 24-75). E' molto compatto e quindi riesco a tenerlo montato anche nella custodia in neoprene. è sufficientemente corto per non creare vignettatura con obiettivo a 16, se si usa però un filtro, anche di quelli slim purtroppo si vede, quindi bisogna scegliere cosa usare. Con il flash bisogna ricordarsi di non usarlo perché altrimenti lascia l'ombra. Protegge bene la macchina, a mio avviso meglio del filtro uv che protegge solo la lente e non le parti laterali dell'obiettivo, perché più ampio. Avrei gradito il tappo con il cordino, ma ho rimediato comprando i cordini con l'adesivo qui su amazon. Ne consiglio l'acquisto.

Ottima Qualità
Il paraluce in questione è di ottima qualità, totalmente in metallo e ben costruito, da considerare attentamente su quale obiettivo andrà montato, io l'ho preso per un 35mm su full frame, pensavo andasse bene ma purtroppo vignetta visibilmente agli angoli. Se montato su un obiettivo 35mm su aps-c non dovrebbe assolutamente vignettare in quanto equivale a circa 50mm, ma su full frame, bisogna necessariamente prendere quello per grandangolo già dalle focali inferiori a 50mm. Do lo stesso 5 stelle perchè il paraluce è comunque di ottima fattura, ha pure una filettatura anteriore dove si possono avvitare eventuali filtri.

top verarbeitet, endlich eine Gegenlichtblende, die beim Fuji 18-55/2.8-4 OIS nicht vignettiert!!!
Nachdem ich 2 verschiedene Gegenlichtblenden getestet habe und ALLE (Hohl, vhbw) bisher beim Fujinon 18-55/2.8-4 OIS vignettiert (Blende 2.8-8, ab 11 ist Abschattung weg) haben, trotz gegenteiliger Beschreibung, dass es problemlos funktionieren würde.Leider haben auch diverse Kundenrezensionen hier fehlerhafte Informationen als korrekt dargestellt.Fakt: alle vignettieren (Abschattung in den Ecken) bei 18mm Brennweite und Blende 2.8-8. Erst ab Blende 11 ist der Effekt weg.Die SIOTI Dünn wide hingegen vignettiert auch bei Blende 2.8 und 18mm Brennweite NICHT IM GERINGSTEN!Perfekt!

Cap Fits 14-42 lens (or 37mm) ONLY WITH THE accompanied hood
I bought this for my Olympus OMD Mark II kit lens(14-42) as I lost the lens cap. Although the quality of the SIOTI Lens hood and cap is great for the price, I was not happy to learn that the cap will not fit your lens directly! It only fits the hood which you need to attach to the lens first. Also at the widest angle there is vignette.. so it spoils your picsSo, if you are looking for a cap for 37mm, DO NOT BUY THIS.Hope this helps

Once installed never removed.
I wanted a lens hood for the 7artisans 55mm lens. This is a very good option, with a filter thread on the inside of the front of the lens hood you can clip a lens cap on to the front of the hood.I have the same set up on the 7artisans 35mm lens. Once I screwed the hood onto the lens it stays on all the time as I use the cap that comes with the lens hood.

Acabado metálico, con tapa frontal. Me gusta bastante como queda en mi Sigma DP Quattro.Importante! Al ir colocado en la rosca del objetivo no s puede colocar la tapa original de este, supongo que es por esto por lo que trae su propia tapa.Calidad precio me parece buena compra

Buen parasol, tapa normalita.
El parasol encaja perfectamente y es de buen material, razón por la cual es màs llamativo el plástico malucho de la tapa. Es cómoda por tapar el parasol y no tener que andar poniéndola dentro pero ojalà estuviera un poquito más perfeccionada.Si bien es cierto que por su precio cumple su función perfectamente.

High Quality Lens Hood
This hood is excellent and built solidly! It’s made out of metal, which trumps my flimsy plastic lens hoods. Does the job and prevents stray light from being introduced to my photos! Looks real nice on my L35AF. Would highly recommend for film photographers or digital photographers looking for a metal threaded hood!
