Great book
Just what my granddaughter needs for college. Used but in great condition. The price of new books swallows up a great deal of her student bursary so World of Books is a fantastic way to get current editions (most of the time) at really fantastic prices. Would highly recommend

Comprehensive guide to referencing techniques
I bought this book as it was recommended by most of the lecturers and library staff when it came to referencing essays. I am a mature student so it has been a long time since I've had to think about referencing and because the book was reasonably priced I went ahead and bought it. This was a wise decision because my using this book to reference in my essays my referencing has been spot on and I have not lost any marks due to poor referencing. I was amazed at how many different referencing styles there are and this book was a real eye-opener. It tells you how to reference everything from images, websites, books, journals, audio and verbal. The list was endless and looking through the book initially I'll admit it was daunting but the book is well laid out and once you get to the relevant bit for what you need to reference the book is easy to follow so I think this is a must-buy if you're losing marks for poor referencing or if you are totally clueless about where to start as I was :)

Excellent for Harvard referencing using Internet sources and Youtube.
Harvard referencing starts on page 14 - and is the main body of the book.Every conceivable version of referencing for the internet, youtube, ebooks is included.Do you know how to reference a youtube video? No, neither did I.These days being able to reference a book, is nothing... electronic journals and internet sources are the bulk of reseach for most students. We need to be able to cite internet sources, so you can get that reference correct, in the text and at the end.The layout of the book is superb. It details how to reference, working from the information that you have, and what to do, if a website has no date or author on it. And lets be honest, how many websites will quote you the author and date of update? The book is easy to read, clear, very visual, and lovely paper - wonderful to the touch. Finally it's in it's 8th edition. How many books do you know in their 8th edition - which on it's own is a statement of how good this book really is.Wish I'd bought this earlier!!

Cite Them Right
This is probably one of the most useful books I've bought at the beginning of my university course. When producing assignments, you're expected to cite your references absolutely right! There are very slight variations on the referencing at our University, however, it is based around the Harvard type. This book gives you quick glance examples of Harvard referencing, so you can't really go wrong. I've used it while writing up all of my assignments so far and will probably continue to do so to double check I've done it right. I'm a mature student and the course I'm doing is my first degree, so referencing was completely new to me. I'd recommend this book to anyone, young or old!! Extremely useful if you're not confident at referencing.

Use this book - faultless referencing, simple!
This has been an absolute life saver throughout my degree. My university uses the Harvard system of referencing and this book covers this brilliantly and comprehensively, I haven't struggled to find what I'm looking for once. In all my essays, lecturers have commented on my perfect referencing and I can assure you that is not down to me, but to this fantastic guide. It's a must buy for any university student not confident with referencing or even you are, it is always useful to have a 'go-to' for double checking! It covers Harvard the most, so double check your system is in here and if it is, make sure there's enough information to warrant buying it.Best university book I've invested in - a must!

Good basic guide but not that comprehensive
This is excellent as a basic introduction and the layout is very clear. However, I would have preferred to see more than one example of each type and, given the amount of "white space" in this book, I feel there would have been space to do this. I would also have liked to see more information on citing different editions (especially dates to use where, say, the book I'm referring to is a British edition of a US original, up to its umpteenth reprint and no edition number is given). Also rather more on translations and on referring to a whole body of work by a single author - i.e. making general comments rather than on a specific book. It would also be helpful to have a little information on citing authors whose names do not fit the typical forename plus surname format. So, overall, I would say this is OK, providing solid information, but that I for one was left with various queries for my next tutorial!

Simple guide for referencing troubles!
I bought this guide from Amazon after reading the reviews on here. My Uni recommended it in my book list as well. it's laid out very simply and relaxes my fears around referencing, as this book really does make it easy to understand. It references everything from books and journals to You Tube!I also purchased Stella Cottrell Study Skillls Handbook, by Palgrave as well and I think both these books go hand in hand. My Uni recommended both so I am happy now to start my degree knowing the foundations are set and my essays will be referenced properly!

Best source out there
I think that this book may be difficult for those new to referencing and citing, but then again all books will be a challenge if you are new to this. I have many books on this area and instruct a course in research and academic writing. This book is the way to go, not just for beginners, for many entering this area (or revisiting it after some time off). Not only does it address the Harvard Approach, but it looks at (if briefly): APA, MLA, MHRA, OSCOLA, and Vancouver Referencing Style. Once you get the basics, as in the Harvard Approach, the others really just need fine tweaking; thus, I feel for the target audience of the book its fine.If you are ordering this book, why not tuck a couple others in your cart, like MLA, APA, and if you are a very analytical person whom likes these genres of thought, the Chicago Manual of Style. Let's face it, if you are new to this - different sources may just be what you need to really get it as we all have different styles of learning. BUT - I could easily recommend this as your single "first" guide to referencing.Well done

Really helpful to have on hand
This has been a life-saver for me in my first weeks of my online Master's programme. Really up to date - I was impressed to see that they include how to reference YouTube videos and Facebook. The only one that's missing is how to reference a Kindle book!Worth it for anyone who has to write academic papers using the Harvard method of referencing.

It's ok
Fairly good reference. However, I feel some specific cases (such as how to cite sources in other languages) are not fully covered.
