Darkthrone
What can be said about Darkthrone, pioneers of Norwegian Black Metal.Alot of people dont know but Darkthrone really really early in their career had a big punk influence and alot of the songs on this album if not the whole thing has that again.I'm not sure about the masses but I really enjoyed this album it was nice to hear that these guys after all these years can still pull off something new and fresh. Now for those who are true fans will enjoy this album but for those who just enjoy the the Thrashy/Deathy Black Metal that thses guys made famous they may not enjoy this album as much.

Witch Ghetto!
Pretty decent newer Dark Throne. Blackened Crusty Dbeat, with a dash of traditional heavy metal and a healthy dose of punk attitude. For me, it's better than F.O.A.D., but not as good as Circle The Wagons or The Underground Resistance. Viking Metal Punks is a great tune with a simple, awesome closing solo, which makes the song.

Classic darkthrone unholy black metal!!!
Classic darkthrone unholy black metal!!! the themes of the songs are less depressing and dark than the previous recordings with all of the thrash/punk riffs that make darkthrone unique

Must have for Darkthrone fans!!!
This is probably my favorite Darkthrone CD. The progression of the band is noticeable. All of the songs rock hard. Excellent sound, strong lyrics, and amazing vocals. Buy this CD!!!!

i love what darkthrone has done with this their new wave of black heavy metal it is acctually more of a venomous throwback style to the original black metal style venom created with darkthrone's own style of it better than venoms production yet raw as hell...i love it...!!

This is Darkthrone...plain and simple.
I find it difficult to believe that anyone listening to a Darkthrone album would be offended or put off by any sort of change in their sound. Darkthrone have always done what they wanted to do, when they wanted to do it. First they were death metal, then they tried black metal and now they play what is really a hybrid of both styles with some thrash and punk mixed in. And what is wrong with this? The band that never seemed to change was changing all of the time. The faithful Darkthrone fans saw this and never cared. "Darkthrone is Darkthrone" they would say. Others, who were on the outside of the beast, would sit and stare, wondering what the appeal was."What is the appeal?" you ask. The appeal is this: Darkthrone play for themselves. They play music that is real and genuine, without any pretense or cloak of glamour. If you don't like them, they really don't care. This is why they have never really made it out of the underground but, as they have spoken many times, they don't care. This is the kind of attitude you will get with this album. It's punkish, brash, heavy and alltogether enjoyable. The songs and production are all very primitive sounding, much like F.O.A.D., but even more primitive. Fenriz and Nocturno Culto have transcended the "black metal" scene and become a style of music all their own. Some may hate it, some may love it, but Darkthrone are Darkthone.

Freacking Finally!!!
Don't want to 'tout' myself because I can't stand arrogant pud's, but I remember banging my head and raising the fists to Soulside Journey on cassette! Darkthrone's Soulside and A Blaze were absolutely revolutionary years ago and still hold the same torch today! I personally couldn't find much of the same luster in all the albums in between. Don't get me wrong there has been some good songs released here n' there, but nothing quite like a complete new album, sound, and direction that this one has taken me on! I love this new stuff! Don't care what they call it - It's rock n' roll for the soul! Fenriz' mix on vocals are so welcomed - you know he was a wizard with the Isengard projects! I have a hard time finding any metal that is worth 2 cents! This stuff is the bomb! Thank you Throne - Eternal Hails!! WAR ON!! \m/ ^ ^ \m/

Modern metal I don't give a füçkk UH! I was raised on rock!”
I’m A Darkthrone Fan who loves the crusty rock n roll stuff the most. So FOAD, Black Flags And Cult are my favorite albums. So crack a beer, turn it up and just let that filthy crusty blackened rock n roll into your heart. Cheers.

Perfect party music, purchase now
Now I was excited when I heard `A Blaze in the Northern Sky' and `Under a funeral Moon' but this... this is absolutely knock you back amazing. This is music to play at parties, it really is. Sure it is violent but it swings, it has groove, it is what rock n roll would have sounded like if it had evolved in a dank and dirty pit.Why more bands don't go along with this punk attitude of doing what they like is beyond me, this is what it should be about. I got into metal and rock because it was meant to signify freedom and celebrate difference not to be conformist sheep who wallow in genre boundaries, as so many do Darkthrone excel at being themselves by going in whatever direction they want, so much so that even if they did a duet with Britney Spears on x factor and then recorded an album of pop songs, they would still sound better and more true than a bunch of conformist, make the same black metal album thirty times, idiots. So this album is basically unwashed rock n roll dripping with punk, held down by black metal, perfect for a right jolly night and a must for fans of music. The Winds They Called the Dungeon Shaker: This has a dawn of metal type feel to it, early Sabbath, Judas Priest and Motorhead, mixed in with the power metal type cry of `the dungeon shaker' make for a stunningly exciting track.Death of all Oaths (Oath Minus): The drums pound on this track and the vocals recall black metal progenitors Venom. The guitars give a nice pulsing drive to the songs initial stages and a nice early Doom feel towards the latter stages of the song before finishing with those pulsing drums again.Hiking Metal Punks: Darkthrone's ode to hiking is a full speed ahead squealing beast, its... dare I say it?... fun.Blacksmiths of the North (Keep that Ancient Fire): What you think may be an atmospheric track decides to punch you in the face without warning. Nice. Its got a nice snake like guitar over pummelling drums.Norway in September: The vocals are harsh on this one but there is a real swing in the music. The whole song shoots along in spectacular fashion.Grizzly Trade: A slow almost Iron Monkey type guitar gives way to a burst of speed before making a reappearance near the end, all brought to a close by a rock n roll drum roll.Hanging out in Haiger: An almost Black Metal start which then changes to a more rocking pace with Judas Priest style vocals and the nod to Judas priest contained in the lyrics `Hell bent for rockarolla trip' recalling Judas Priests first album and the American name for `British Steel'.Dark Thrones and Black Flags: An interesting instrumental track.Launchpad to Nothingness: This one has a nice vicious feel to it starting out pretty straightforwardly rhythmically before adding a nice rock swing.Witch Ghetto: The album ends on a fantastically rocking number, which is probably one of the best tracks on the album.Pure joy of an album, buy it now as it confirms music's ability to excite. a rough rocking beast of liberating metal. Albums like this should be heard by fans of all metal, rock and punk genres, as well as the various offshoots therein, in order to show that genre boundaries are for simplified communication via categorisation in order to conjure up a vague idea of something in someone who has not had contact with said something before, genres are not for placing restrictions on bands.Get this.

It's a bit corny but at least it sounds like it's deliberate
Some people don't get it. Their loss. It's a bit corny but at least it sounds like it's deliberate.
