My daughter likes this
My daughter is 2 and she likes this puzzle book. I'm not sure though if she recognizes the pictures instead of looking at the numbers, but either way, it keeps her entertained for a bit. The alphabet puzzle book is good too.

Excellent book
I purchased this book and the ABC train book for my 3 yr.old grandson who loves trains and is learning his numbers and his letters. I was very pleased with the quality and the colorful pictures. He also loves Caillou so it was very special for him.

Borrowing Caillou for 2 pages
Our son loves Caillou. He watches Caillou in the morning, middle of the day and before going to sleep. As parents, we like the direction the makers of Caillou, have taken this cartoon. My hope in buying this board book, was for Caillou to act as a "training aid" while we introduce our son to numbers. The book introduces the numbers 1 through 10. An animal is designated to represent the numbers, i.e. one dog, two tigers, etc. The jigsaws are of decent size, to where our son cannot accidentally swallow a piece - which is great. The jigsaws are thinner than the actual board page, so it seems that with enough "toddler" strength - the jigsaws might accidentally bend in half.I had to pull apart the jigsaws from the board page at first, but then our son was able to 1.) extract the jigsaws out himself and 2.) know exactly where the indent was to pick the jigsaw out with his finger. My problem with this board book, is that Caillou does not appear often. Caillou is only seen on the cover and on the first board page ... but that's it. He isn't seen again. The board book uses the rest of its pages, to illustrate the rest of his family and friends. But even then, our son can only recognize his family. The rest of the people are unfamiliar. So after seeing Caillou and Rosie, our son soon loses interest. Sometimes our son call's out Caillou's Mom and Dad, but really it's Caillou that he's crazy about. Now, each individual jigsaw can be pulled and connected to each other, to form a puzzle train, with Caillou leading as the front engine. So I can kind of see why they would leave Caillou out of the rest of the book. But ultimately, I think that decision hurts the effectiveness of it. What they could have done instead is, place Caillou on the left facing board page that doesn't contain the jigsaws.Since Caillou only appears twice in the book, I feel we should have bought a different book to introduce our son to numbers. We know there are children books available, better formatted to hold our son's attention - as it teaches numbers. Since this was a "Caillou version" of numbers, we thought "what better way than with Caillou?"I give it 3 stars, because the book is filled with colorful landscapes and animals in the background. Our son can recognize most of the animals in the book, to include zebras, giraffes, sheep and what not. Our son sat through one reading, the first time, but after 5 or so attempts at read-through's ... he just wasn't interested. If you're looking for a Caillou filled book, this isn't it.
