Johns has outdone himself and, with his artists, has produced a wonderful graphic novel.

Doomsday Clock does what many thought was impossible and fully justifies its existence in following up the classic Watchmen series whilst also telling what is probably the most assuredly mature and thoughtful work Geoff Johns has ever done in the DC Universe. It is as much a Superman story as it is a Watchmen one and Superman has only a few appearances in this, the first half of the overall tale.The art is sublime! Gary Frank with his beautiful pencilling and inking and Brad Anderson with his rich, warm and vibrant colours which all mesh seamlessly with a story that is relevant in a way that will stand the test of time.What could have been a tacky cash in on a classic comic is anything but! It is respectful of the source material: both Watchmen and the DC Universe, a brilliant follow up to DC Rebirth and the mysteries raised there and beautiful.An absolute must buy as well as part 2 when it is released next year!! You won’t be disappointed.

Sequel to the most ground breaking graphic novel of all time the original writer isn’t doing this but since they absorbed the characters into the dc universe it kind of works the art is top notch

Kinda short, but a good story.

Absolutely incredible!I've Just bought and read this in one sitting and can't wait to finish the story when book 2 is released next year . Great writing and Art . Far better than the before watchmen books.

Arrived much earlier then expected which was a lovely suprise. Book was in immaculate condition and i cant complain.

An ok book. I was a bit disappointed in this book simply as I was expecting more. I have heard a lot of good things about the Watchmen universe, but never read them. I am impressed. To be honest the heroes of the Watchmen world are just as easily villains depending on the day and how you look at them.The positives the are work is great, not that I like swearing but in this dark version of the world (and used sparingly) it does add to the realism, the fact file/additional reading at the end of each chapter/issue are good for explaining back stories or thing like "the Superman theory", are necessary as the only have 30 pages to move the main story on.Two universes are on the brink of political implosion ending in nuclear war. The women thread they seem to have is an all powerful entity from the Watchman world. The majority of this book is from the Watchmen world. An advantage of this for me is I do not know the Watchmen characters so getting origins and background is good, but would have liked the DC characters to have more time as well.I was disappointed at the lack of action in the book the last issue chapter/issue made up for this a bit. Though I liked Mime and Marionette's origin, I did not understand why they were brought along. I have to agree with Lex"If you're the smartest man on your planet, I'd hate to meet the dumbest"Especially given his background. I am hoping the is more action and DC character time in the second book.

Primeiro, eu gosto muito da obra original do Alan Moore. Contudo, eu não acho que uma obra deva ser intocável.Geoff Johns emula o estilo do Watchmen original para escrever esta continuação. Eu acho que o comic merece ser relido para entender melhor, o que não é ruim. Algumas perguntas são respondidas mas muitas outras aparecem. Ele também da uma explicação do porque os personagens da obra original neste "universo". Ansioso por ler a parte 2.

This volume represents the leading star of the whole 2017 DC Rebirth. Its conception, pulling together one of the universe of the classic "Watchmen" series of the late eighties with the DC universe of today, was certain to pull attention from all over, far beyond a traditional comic book readership. I'm not convinced that DC has capitalized on the promise of Rebirth... its universe has once again fragmented into a thousand complicated universe bending plots, but this... this is a new classic, right up there with the original Watchmen.Geoff Johns does a great job shaping a coherent narrative arc. Dialogue writing is outstanding. Art is solid. The pacing is outstanding, we know we are in for a long haul of a narrative, but the story starts out with excitement and continues that way.Can I be honest? As someone who read the original Watchmen as a teen, nostalgia was a huge part of my pleasure in reading this. That said, I think this is a stand-alone work. You don't *need* to read the original to enjoy this (though you certainly should!). And the comic book holds up on its own!DC's Rebirth was hit or miss, as I suppose it was destined to be. But this mini-series is a shining star; one that will be remembered and reread for generations. Seriously. It is that good.

It is an interesting comeback for the Watchmen franchise. Depicts how dark DC has become akin to the Watchmen world.
