Kobalt KMP 5040-06 40-Volt Brushless Lithium Ion 20-in Self-Propelled Cordless Electric Lawn Mower

I purchased this mower May !, 2021, the mower itself is fine, easy to handle, easy to start and operate.But it doesn’t do any good if the BATTERIES ARE SO BAD AND DO NOT MAINTAIN ITS CHARGE.When I bought the mower last May, I was able to mow my front yard, down the sides of my home and 1/2 of the back yard. Now fully charge the battery life barely gets the front of my yard mowed. What a disappointment, I would expect a battery that would have a service life for longer than a year. The write ups were so good, I didn't think about getting an extended warranty, what a big mistake!!!

The price i did not like . I should have looked around could have got it a Lot cheaper. So sad.

This unit might work for a short nap, postage stamp yard but it certainly didn’t work for me! Trying to return to Wish Traders is a joke. Had to get Amazon involved just to get a mailing label. So, OK, I have to mail this 65 pound item back to vendor AT MY EXPENSE. Not sure if or how much I will get back on this $500 purchase. Their return policy is pretty much worthless…return it in new, unused condition—huh?! How do I know it’s ineffective if I haven’t tried it? I’ve cleaned it thoroughly after its 20 minute trial. Anxious to see what happens next. Bad, bad purchase decision on my part for sure.

We have always been happy with Kobalt. Do to no fault of theirs we ended up buying a EGO. We love our blower and chainsaw.

This season, used one time. I have had to put another claim in for a new battery. I really think I should send it back!!!! I won’t buy another DeWalt product

This thing is so quiet and does its job so well the idea of going back to ic is absurd. I've had one for three years, when the drive motor quit, Lowes simply mailed me a new one. I has a full 5 year warranty. As for quality of cut and power, both are great.

I have two properties. One has a flat lawn which takes1/2 hr. to mow. I bought the 40V Kobalt push mower ,model 2041B06 for this lawn. Great mower easy to use. My other property has 3 patch's and is hilly. One patch is at one end of a 500' steep driveway. I needed a self propelled mower so I bought the Kobalt KMP5040-06 for this property. Bothe these mowers use the same well built platform.I have not mowed these lawns for 30 years. Instead I used lawn mowing guys. They were on a two week schedule. They mow even if the lawn doesn't need it. I'm 81 and could use some exercise and i was intrigued with battery powered mowers. I picked Kobalt because the price was right. $250 for push, 350 for self propelled.The push mower is fine for flat lawns. Its very easy to push, back up and turn. But not easy on any slope. The self propelled has a little friction in the rear wheels because your turning the armature in the wheel motor buts its not noticeable on a lawn. It also is easy to pull backwards. When you go forward up to a tree release propelling and move forward slightly before pulling back. Sounds tricky but very simple. When you make a U turn you release the propelling. Speed control is very easily controlled with a slide control. Power is automatically increased when cutting high grass. It doesn't change the fwd. motion speed though. One feature that is handy for coming up my driveway is the mower can self propel without the blade turning. Battery run time is not an issue. The push mower easily goes 1/2 hr. on any grass height. I haven't tested the battery on self propelled because I'm out of juice before the battery is. I just mow one patch a day. The entire lawn takes an hour going at leisurely pace. I top off the battery when half way done and its usually half full. I don't get the obsession on runtime. No big deal to mow the lawn in steps. I bought the Kobalt string trimmer for $120 which I use for a few minutes a lawn. Its heavier than it looks. Bottom line mowing for me is fun, good exercise and i save 110 every two weeks. My sons and grand sons fight to use the mowers. Im sold on battery power.
