Both books, actually. Sometimes telling a lie is done to protect someone. Sometimes it's done to keep from hurting someone. Sometimes telling the truth does more damage than good. The world that Cora and Penn are living in is not black and white and oftentimes it is life or death.Aly truly is a master at writing an intense, deeply emotional, thrilling story that burrows into your heart and takes up residence. She weaves such intricate stories, I marvel at how she brings all the pieces together to draw the reader into the heart and soul of the storyline.If you've read any of Aly's other books, you already know that you will be going on one heck of a ride when you pick up this duet! I'm so excited to read the next book, The Ways We Lied about Drew and Catalina!

When I finished The Truth About Lies I was so sad I had to wait for this book but having read The Truth About Us, I can tell you it was well worth the wait. Aly Martinez did a superb job of wrapping up Cora and Penn’s story, and I am even more enamored with her skills as a storyteller after finishing this duet.Even though I knew what was going on, my heart broke for Cora during the beginning of this book. Ms. Martinez did a fabulous job of portraying the devastation Cora was feeling, while still letting her unflappable strength shine through. My heart broke for her while she was in the throes of grief but still had the resilience to take care of her girls in the way she’d always planned on.The Truth About Us was rife with suspense. Almost from the beginning, there were several threads of intrigue that sprouted from the aftermath of the event of The Truth About Lies. Aly Martinez kept me glued to my kindle trying to discern exactly how things were going to play out and if Penn and Drew were going to get the vengeance they’d been planning for years. I was utterly taken aback when things came to a head, Ms. Martinez completely astonished me with the twists she threw in.The Truth About Us is the second book in Aly Martinez’ Truth duet. The Truth duet is one story told in two volumes, and both stories must be read, in order, to get the complete story. There will also be a spinoff to this duet, The Ways We Lied, that will focus on another couple. The Truth About Us is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Cora and Penn.Aly Martinez is the master of duets. Each time she releases one I am blown away by how beautiful they are and how she splits them in the most perfect place, then gives us an outstanding finish to her characters’ stories. I’ve yet to read a single book of hers I haven’t loved, but there is something special about her duets that makes them stand out from the crowd.

Gobsmacked. Yup that's me right now as I finished The Truth About Us. Aly Martinez did the slow simmer kind of storytelling with this second book in The Truth Duet and as much as I thought I knew how this wild tale would conclude, let me just say that I really had no clue. Martinez had me all comfortable and then BAM I'm blown away once more.Once again, Martinez gives us endearing yet beautifully witty characters in Cora and Penn. Despite all that has happened to both of them, they have a fiery spirit that simply cannot be extinguished. As more and more secrets are revealed and lives are still hanging in the balance, their love somehow survives but not before hearts get beaten up and hung out to dry.With the way The Truth About Lies ended (and I won't give anything away here) you'd think Cora would have given up on a chance for a better life with or without Penn by her side. But damn that woman is fearless. She may not always think so but she is truly amazing. I admire her gusto, her continued selflessness and the humor that keeps her going. Cora handles anything and everything that comes her way with a determined spirit that is to be admired. Her suspicions about events that had gone down in book one keep her on her toes and she clearly gives Drew a few headaches along the way. But it's her drive that is the force behind this story and I couldn't love her more if I tried.Whatever you may think will happen, might. But be prepared to be blown away as the story nears its end. Martinez is meticulous in the way she crafts a story and to say this conclusion is compelling is a true understatement. Her gift at making the reader feel 'comfortable' before that oft-times surprising other shoe drops, is remarkable. And the way she creates the very best in memorable characters is unmatched.Another winning duet from Aly Martinez, I am happy to give The Truth About Us 5 big stars!

This book was incredible! It was emotional and heartbreaking and absolutely amazing! What Cora and Penn go through is tough and heart wrenching but Aly has created a story that will stay with me forever. Penn completely stole my heart and everything he did was just... Ah! How he cared for Cora was beautiful. I loved the characters and the story and I loved how it ended. It was a perfect ending! Now I can't wait to read about Drew and Cat's story because I know it's going to be amazing!

I do wish as a review we could occasionally give a 10. This would be one of those times. This is the second and conclusion of this duet. It starts virtually where the book 1 finished. It remains thrilling, full of suspense, romantic and graphic. We have flashbacks that explain a lot. We have POV from varies characters, but will still have humour as well as dark moments. This Author has a wonderful imagination, excellent penmanship, and is greatly talented. We now have to wait till next year to get Drews story, but I’m sure it will be worth it, as Aly never writes mediocre.

Wow! This had EVERYTHING!! I literally laughed, cried and couldn’t put it down!! I love the connections the characters have, the honesty, and the twists and turns. I especially loved the dedication to a detailed and fulfilling ending - but I still want ALL the spin offs please!

I'm such a fan of Aly Martinez already and the truth duet did not disappoint! I love the twists and turns. When something happens and you gasp "holy sh**" out loud, you know it's a good book! Down side, I finished both books in two days so it was over too soon but I loved every second of Penn and Cora. Read these books! You will not be sorry!

This second book is also a roller coaster ride! Emotions, twists, angst, anger, love, pain and death! All are present in this story. Still amazed by Aly's writing!
