My succulents are much happier now
My aloe and kalanchoe were outside this summer, in regular potting mix, doing okay. Just... okay. I wanted/needed to transplant them to bigger pots in anticipation of moving them indoors for the winter. I toyed with the idea of making my own "cactus" mix but got over that notion quickly. On to Amazon to find the solution! I'm not a knowledgeable gardener so read the reviews of the various products available. I settled on this one and I'm so glad I did. Many reviews of other comparable products mentioned nasty contaminants in the mixes. This arrived timely and pristine. It was free of debris and consistent throughout in texture and composition. I duly transplanted in September and they both responded happily. The kalanchoe especially thrived. (It didn't hurt that I also relieved it of some of the sun it was getting. Duh.) Both stayed outdoors until temps required otherwise. They are now in a south-facing window of an outbuilding that stays around 50 degrees and still doing great. I'm happy with this soil mix and would DEFINITELY buy again. My thumb is getting a touch greener. :-)

Revived my plants. Resealable bag.
So delighted to find this. It's a great balance between price and quality for infrequent gardeners like myself or if you don't have too many plants. I recently moved and my succulents were neglected for months while we unpacked and settled in. They took a lot of rain and some got root rot and even mold around the base. I finally found time to repot all of them and they love the soil so much. You could see a difference overnight!! This soil is super airy. Even after tamping and watering, it doesn't compact much. You're probably thinking after what the plants have been through, repotting with any soil would be an improvement. But it's not true. They've had phases of neglect before and not all soil is created equal. Anyway, I just ordered another bag. Oh, the bag itself is resealable. No need to store in another container.

Great product
This was just what my aloe plants needed. They are responding nicely since repotting them using this soil.

Great for Plumerias
I bought this soil because I had purchased plumerias from Hawaii and needed a soil that is well drained. Plumerias are a hit or miss in growing from cuttings in my experience, and some people who bought from this vendor usually always lost a few of their cuttings based on the reviews. I put my cuttings into this soil mixture and they took off. I was pretty amazed and think that this horticulture grade soil made a world of difference. It should be worth noting years ago in Florida I had a plumeria for several years in a pot with a name-brand cactus mix and the thing never grew as many leaves nor ever flowered. My plumerias in this mix are just profusely growing beyond my expectations. Could be the cutting, could be the soil, maybe it was both. I plan to use this soil again when I expand my collection.

Light and airy potting soil
I have decided to expand my succulent collection and thought I would try this potting soil. It is a little more expensive than other brands, but if it is better, than I don't mind paying extra. So far, my garden of outdoor succulents is doing well. I planted 5 more succulents yesterday, and if they don't do well, I will revise my review.

Amazing Soil for a Great Price!!!
I adore this soil and will definitely be repurchasing. The bag is HUGE. I have a growing succulent/ cacti collection and is definitely great to have some extra soil for repotting and expanding!! Extremely good price for a large amount of fast draining soil!!

Good for more than cacti and succulents
I bought this to repot an African violet plant with root rot. I cut off several leaves and suckers from the plant, and potted them all. They all seem very healthy so far. The soil is light and fluffy, holds moisture but not soggy. It also doesn’t pack down and smother the roots. The only downside is it’s dusty, but that’s to be expected.

Large amount of water retention.
The mix is very light and airy when it is dry. I bought it for drought tolerant plants that don't like much water (infrequent, but deep waterings). However, this mix holds water like a sponge - it doesn't drain fast.My normal go to organic mix has bark, sand, and compost mainly, plus I add 20-30% perlite/pumus for drainage. When I water that it comes out the bottom quickly. If you water this mix throughly it will turn to a muddy sludge, you can grab it in your hand and squeeze it and water will come out like a wet sponge. It will break apart after that and doesn't compact but I can't see how this much water retention for long periods of time can be good for drought tolerant plants. It drys very slowly as well.Maybe if you have a tiny pot and use a few table spoons of water but if you have a big 10+ inch pot and saturate this mix with water it would probably take weeks to dry out.
