Newly independent readers and Pilkey fans alike will not be disappointed by the humorous ride." --School Library Journal "Aimed at a younger audience than the wildly popular Captain Underpants books, this series... has all the classic Pilkey hallmarks: comic book panels, superhero action, and flip-o-rama." --Booklist From the Inside Flap Having a big best friend isn't always big fun... got my non reading child reading!
I have not read this book but recommend it nonetheless as it is one of the first books that my 10 year old has ever actually wanted to read. Reading is a big chore for him - he hates it, and I find this so depressing cos I have made the effort to have so many different books available over the years. But he actually likes this series! He wants them all, but some of the prices on Amazon are silly, so we just got 2, and he read them straight away and had finished both within the hour.

Perfect for boys who hate to read!
I found for girls there are loads of books but not so many for boys. My son is 6 and hates reading! A friend told me about the Ricky Ricotta books, since then he now asks me if he can read to me! His reading level 5 at school, he reads these really well struggles with a few words but he's improved so much already. I can't recommend these enough.

Ladybot to the Rescue?
The last book in this version of the series. Two more books are expected to be released with the updated editions in 2014 and 2015. This is probably the least creative of the entire series and feels a little tired to me, an adult, but it follows form and young readers will probably enjoy the introduction of Ladybot, a supposed friend for Mighty Robot. Includes the usual takeover of earth and seeing all the villains in jail at the end.

Great for boys who love robots and baddies
This book is actually aimed at boys between 6 and 8. Great as an introduction to Dav Pilkey. We started looking at all Dav Pilkey's books after discovering Captain Underpants. This is in the library aimed at the younger reader whereas Captain Underpants is the next level up. My son enjoyed all the Ricky Ricotta books.
