Basic but fulfilling
This was a short and enjoyable read for me. I pastor a small church without small groups, but I wanted something to get me started. This did just that. Some of the benefits of this were: 1) it was concise and thorough giving me a solid foundation to work off of, 2) The chapter on benefits of a small group were very helpful, 3) the chapter on leadership was also very helpful. Mr. Saer's takes seriously the finding and empowering of leaders, 4) and the chapter on the life cycle of a small group was not over marketed, but realistic. The reason I choose this book is that it came from a "reformed" theology, which I appreciate. This little book isn't all "how-to's" as I'm sure a Nelson Searcy book is, but it is a good start for making sure you have a biblical foundation of small group ministry.

Great resource for bible study leaders
This is the best book I've read about leading bible study based small groups. Gives not only good thrust from scripture on why small groups are important but gives great technical details on how to actually put together and lead the study. I feel this would equip new leaders as well as seasoned.

Very helpful
I found this book very practical and engaging. It gives the basics for anyone seeking to lead a group seeking to engage the Bible and put its truths into action. It gives the leader some helpful tools for preparing a lesson and dealing with the spiritual growth of the group. I have used this to train small group leaders and they have appreciated its simplicity but resourcefulness.

Incredible book!
Whether you are a small group leader or a Pastor, this book will help you avoid many pitfalls often experienced in small groups. Short and sweet, the goal is to identify what kind of group you are looking to lead and keep the focus of your group on natural Holy Spirit-powered growth in your people. Highly recommend it!

An excellent resource for small groups
Small groups, fellowship groups, bible study groups, cell groups... whatever we call them, they are a major part of church life for most congregations. Not only are they often a primary way of Christian communities to care for one another, but they can be a primary way of studying the Word of God, and indeed, learning how to study the Word.Orlando Saer has written a very helpful guide to running effective and bible-focused small groups. He looks at the 'why' questions as well as the 'how' questions, and writes for the lay-person who may have no previous experience in leading bible studies. The book is quite short, but covers the appropriate ground, with a number of helpful examples.I highly recommend this book to anyone involved in small group ministry, either as a leader or a participant.
