Binky the Space Cat (Binky Adventure, A, 1)

Very well done.
This review is based on the opinion of an adult and not a child. Binky the Space Cat in my opinion is well written and the art work would definitely appeal to children. The art is easy to follow and has some humor in it. Those who own or have owned a cat would get the humor of this story. The only negative critique I would give would be Binky’s flatulence. I know the story is meant for kids but the farting animal bit is used far too often in children’s literature and in movies, and the humor of it has worn off on me. Other than that I would definitely recommend this title to children or the young at heart.

My son loved it.
My son is 9 and just getting into reading chapter books. This is a good in between book where it has enough pictures to keep his interest but he is also able to read it himself. He read the whole book in one sitting, which he never does with larger books. I’ll continue to buy these books to keep him interested in reading and work up to more reading to pictures ratio in other books.

Funny book, my son loved
My son sat down and read through it all in one go. He's 8, and a strong reader, but I was hoping it might hold him over for a few days. ha! But he thought it was really funny and the characters comments and actions were great. I guess maybe we need to get more!

Graphic Novel fun with a lovable delusional cat
Binky found an application for F.U.R.S.T. (Felines of the Universe Ready for Space Travel) in the bottom of his kitty food. Since then he's been in intense training to become a licensed Space Cat. He's dedicated to fighting alien invaders (which humans call bugs) and exploring space (all areas outside of house). However, once Binky is fully licensed and has his space ship built he realizes that if leaves no one will be there to protect his humans, and Binky has to make a tough decision. The students at my school have a seemingly insatiable appetite for graphic novels, so I'm always looking out for new ones to add to the shelves. Binky is one of the newest additions and I fully expect him to be super popular (based on the immense popularity of Chi's Sweet Home series, cats in graphic novel form seem hard to resist). I thought Binky was going to be out exploring space, but was pleasantly surprised to see that he is solidly stuck on earth in a house and has a rather comical view of his domain. I love that bugs are his alien invaders who he is swarn to defeat. It completely explains the actions of cats at seeing bugs in the house. I can't think why I didn't understand this before. Binky is a charmer.

Purrrrrfect Fun!
I read the entire set of Binky Books to my grandson who is a kindergartner and he LOVED them! I did too and I'm 69. This charming story about a brave space cat who never leaves the house (except when he slipped out the window a few times) is one you want to read aloud and together with someone else. There are so many delightful details in the art and the words even describe the colorful sounds in Binky's life. This series is a treasure and I can't wait for the next one. (These books are educationally challenging too, but more importantly they're FUN!)

very entertaining
My granddaughter loved it and it wasn't too difficult for her to read, since she's in second grade.

Charming and funny
Easy to read, great expressions, and a sweet story. Great visuals, well-thought out muted palette. Delighted that it's a series.

Engaging and fun to read
Everyone knows a cat must join FURST to be able to explore outer space (anything outside the house -lol)! This book is engaging and entertaining even after many, many read it again Mom nights.

A book you can really bite into
This is a graphic book, 64 pages in length. Both with the length and the details of the visuals, you can really get a satisfying longer read out of this book. I’d say 30 minutes. The sentences are all shorter and there is a lot of action focus in the panels. I also really enjoyed how the author used so many different shapes of panels and series of panels. It adds another level of visual enjoyment. The art itself is also amazing. The story is fun. I also like how a single mom is featured in the story instead of two parents. You don’t see that often and it’s very refreshing!
