Worked great for use on a non-operational house shutter.

I bought this for a 3' entry picket gate. It is a somewhat large latch and I soon learned that it is not well suited for smaller gates. It needs to be set back several inches from the edge of the gate in order for the rings to turn properly without interfering with the adjacent post as it opens. The latch arm is also very long.I decided to make-do by cutting the arm shorter to fit. The first thing I noticed was how soft the metal was. It cut "like butter". The flat-head screws strip easily, so I replaced them.After only two weeks, everything started to rust extensively. The finish and metal is subpar- to the point that the lever barely turns due to corrosion. I REPEAT: AFTER TWO WEEKS!I would return it but for the fact that I cut it. Bummer.

Customer service is excellent and refunds promptly processed for this inferior product. Although, it's an attractive piece of hardware, multiple installations have proven that the cast iron is brittle and easily broken at the spindle connection and at the latch lever rendering the assembly useless. Renovator's Supply, the vendor has been top notch and I will seek them out when future needs arise.

Used these on some half height doors when we finished our attic. They look great with the rustic doors we made and are much more unique than the traditional door knobs. I love that they are functional from both sides, so I don't have to worry about my kids locking each other in the closets up there,

It is a nice looking gate latch. Installed on our 6ft high wood fence. Not difficult to do. The length of the latch gives much lead way. Sadly this is listed as a barn or fence latch but has to be painted if used outdoors. Where else would you use a gate latch. The metal that connects both rings together is perfect for a 2×4 with a board only on one side. There is a little play in rings when opening but it does not affect the operation of the device.

looks great and works good

This was a waste of money, and while trying to correct its flaws, I broke it, and don’t feel right returning it.- the latch on the ring sits out 1/2 inch from catch for the latch, and is bend. But not enough-the catch is too narrow, given the latches bend- the three parts on the front do not line up symmetrically like other more expensive units.- the latch didn’t slide up the catch to secure the door- no instruction or template for hole to cut, although very intuitive.This was a complete waste of money although very inexpensive, and I should have returned it before trying to “fix” it.

It is lovely looking - I love the look and design of it. I used it on a dutch barn door outside. It and the screws started to rust the first time it rained, so I sprayed it with a clear acrylic coat and used different screws that wouldn’t rust.But after a few weeks, the latch bar part sheared in two - it just didn’t have the strength it needed. I think it you had a lighter duty application, it might work better.

Not wrought iron.. its cast. One handle had the square hole, the other handle had a round hole. Square peg in a round hole?? Doesn't work... Waste of money.

Product broke within a day.
