SSCP Systems Security Certified Practitioner All-in-One Exam Guide, Second Edition 2nd Edition

This is an *excellent* guide for the test. (Be sure though to get the latest version available!) I had two other books, one of which was the official ISC2 SSCP guide. This is by far the best of the three. It's very easy to read and it flows very well. That's one thing I did not like about the official ISC2 guide, it was very dry and contained a lot of unnecessary information not related to the test.I must add, although I did pass on my first try (they don't reveal your score) and thought I did very well, the test is difficult. It really tests your knowledge, but all the information is in this exam guide. I recommend studying one chapter a day and taking the chapter practice test. Go through the entire book and retake all the chapter tests. Re-read the book and focus on the chapters you had the most trouble with.Take your time and learn the material in this book and you'll be fine during the exam. If you skim over subjects to quickly get to the practice questions, you'll only memorize those questions and not the subject matter, which is what the test is based on.

I first ordered the official study guide, then this. I passed the SSCP on the first try on February 24th and thought I'd compare the 2 books for anyone looking into buying them. This one isn't organized the same way as the official guide (that is, neatly divided into the 7 domains), but I thought it was overall better. It seemed to go into more detail on some topics, although the official study guide was more detailed on some network-related topics like cloud computing. The official guide really needs a better proofreader. There are a lot of mistakes in it, many of which are just typos, but some are more substantive and I found a couple of mistakes in the online questions that correspond to the official guide as well. This book, on the other hand, is far less error-prone. I also found the electronic content more helpful. It's equivalent to 2 full-length tests, although the questions are selected randomly, so the only way to know you've seen them all is to change the settings so it displays them all in the same session. Set aside a big chunk of time for that. The online questions the official guide gives access to overlap considerably with its end-of-chapter questions, and there was much less overlap between this book's end-of-chapter questions and its electronic content.My conclusion: I found them both to be useful, but if you're only going to get one, it should be this one.

I passed the test on Nov. 12th. This book was not the only resource I used but it is VERY good. I also use the TestOut online study course and the Kindle version of Security+. I work in Information Security and I find the book to be mostly accurate. The book comes with a CD containg practise tests and a PDF version of the book both are extremely handy and a good supplement to the end of chapter questions.Having said this, none of these resources gives you the answers to the test. There are 125 questions on the SSCP test and of those only one was to be found in any of the resources I used.Where this book helps is to teach the concepts involved with Information Security. YOU MUST KNOW THESE CONCEPTS TO PASS THE TEST!So study the book and I recommend TestOut's Security course too. Look online to find a discount code because the course is expensive.

I pass the test with this book as primary reading source. My other reading sources are the ISC Official Study Guide, a lot of youtube searches on my weak areas, and Pluralsight SSCP course.What differs this book from the other books is the way it was written. It is easy to read, and not at all dry. Darrel Gibson is now on my list of favorite technical authors.Content-wise the coverage will make you confident in taking the test. However, I think the "All-in-one" should be taken with a grain of salt. I have years of experience so it might have helped me as well.I would recommend you read this book first. If you feel confident based on what you've learn, take the test. If not, the Official Study Guide is also a great additional reference (with some proofreading mishaps).

I write training material and exam questions for the SSCP on a site called ccure.education and used this as a reference for 250 questions.Darril Gibson writes well and makes the material tolerable but doesn't bore you to death with frequent long stories explaining mundane topics.I bought the kindle version so I could keyword search for subjects on which I need to write, which is great.I haven't scrubbed the book for technical inaccuracies but some may exist. I usually cross-reference technical statements with what I already know what what other sources indicate and so far, seems ok.Overall, nice book.

This was my primary source of study material and I passed the exam on my 1st attempt. I did read some sections of the CBK book, but if you have some work experience and other knowledge this book should be enough to pass the exam, especially if you have studied and passed the Security + exam (Gibson's book for that exam is a must as well). The practice exam CD that comes with the book is great and it's nice to have a PDF copy of the book as well, great for reading on the iPad or other tablet. Mr. Gibson's material is always top notch and very relevant to passing any certification exam.

Very good!The content is very good, help the candidate to understand and get knolege fir SSCP and CISSP as well.

Very good guide, working through it now, only minor issue I found is chapters not aligned directly to each of the 7 domains, otherwise content is pretty good.

Very easy to read book. Tried some transcender exams after reading this and noticed that there was some information that wasn't covered in the book. Would definitely recommend this as one part of study materials however more more parts are needed.

This book was my main study material for the SSCP exam. Very easy to read and understand, with more than adequate content to pass the exam
