Duchesse Flute

Beautiful but searching for the perfect flutes for my daughter's wedding. This was a definite possibility...just not quite "the one."

These goblets were a gift. They are beautiful!To correct another reviewer: "lead crystal" IS the real stuff. It has lead or barium added to increase light refraction and clarity. "Crystal" does not have an additive, thus it is not as 'sparkly.' Lead content varies with the maker. (Note: If you have a lead crystal decanter, do not leave brandy or another spirit meant to be sipped in small quantities - and thus having long exposure to the lead crystal decanter - bcs the lead will leach out into the liquid.)A "pressed glass" piece is the one that has a "seam line" running up and down. It was to this the other reviewer was referring. If what she received had this seam, then, yes, this is certainly not lead crystal - or even "crystal"- but something that was made by "pressing" molten glass into a mold. The place where the two (or more) parts of the mold touch each other causes a ridge ("seam"). Sometimes the seam is polished off.My goblets have no seam. They are lead crystal.I think you can buy with confidence. mb

I was sent a knockoff made in Slovenia. Lead crystal versus real crystal. Several differences between the real thing and this flute, including a line running the diameter of the flute. Returning for refund.

Such stunning glasses with a substantial and heavy feel. So luxurious!

This is not solely a review for just the beautiful flute by Vera Wang, but more of a review of the entire line of crystal, which ranges from standard wine, goblets, flutes and iced beverage glasses to cake stands, vases, candle holders, etc.My husband and I registered for this line of crystal for our wedding. We received nearly the entire set - we registered for 8 of each (wine, goblet, flute, and iced beverage) - we also received the double old fashion glasses and the high balls.My husband just loves the DOF glasses - they have a nice, solid feel to them - it's beautiful crystal, but the weight of the glasses suggests that they are not as fragile as one would assume.Vera Wang outdid herself when she created this line of crystal. The etching is fluid and not over-done. The design doesn't look like your standard piece of crystal with all the dips and etches that one usually sees. This design is for the person who wants the beauty of crystal decorating their table, but still wants a modern, not overdone look - which is exactly what this is.My favorite piece is the goblet - the bowl is huge - which is a feature that I just love. Also, when drinking a glass of red wine, the starburst pattern of the crystal is just beautiful when reflecting the beautiful color of deep red wines.All in all, this entire line is definitely a treat to have on our table. It's beautiful, practical in it's design, usable, and simply stunning.
