Digital Instant Read Thermometer for Baking Food and Cooking Meat in Oven, Smoker, Grill, BBQ | Sleek Design & Accurate Reading

This was my first thermometer purchase and it will always hold a special place in my heart.. it helped me to make my first perfect pan-fried chicken thighs.. until using this device, I never was able to do that..However, I'm incredibly disappointed to report that after cleaning it twice (only used it twice) - some water seems to have seeped in and it is no longer working properly :( I'm trying to figure out if it's worth investing in this again (and figuring out the proper way to clean it) or if I should look for something more durable.. I'll do some research, but if you're incredibly careful and in the market for something to help you make perfect pan-fried chicken thighs.. this is a winner!

Works well... not as "instant" as I expected, but gets you a temp reading pretty quick... you just have to wait several seconds while the temp reading "climbs", and when it stops, you know what the temp is.I used this for cooking meats and checking water temps.

I read the previous reviews and thought I had finally found an instant read thermometer. A couple blinks and there is the temp. However, it is like others I have tried. Give it 5-10 seconds and there is the temp. Certainly not instant. It is nice to have an F/C and hold buttons along with the on/off button.

This product did everything it said it would do. Now that the weather is getting cooler BBQ's are tolerable now for a Texas weather. However whenever you are cooking chicken on the grill you always have that problem if you have over cooked it where it becomes dry or if it's not ready yet and you have to tear off the flesh from the bone. This reader kept my chicken just right I knew when to move it off the coals and when to add a little more heat. I didn't have to stand over the fire too long and it's display is big enough to even read in low light.Things I would improve next time would be an ergonomic fit to your grip or rubber because if you have greasy fingers it will make easier to hold.I am glad I bought this reader and I take it with me everytime I go to the back or tailgate. I can't wait to try it on some smoked briskett and ribs next time.

it wasn't as accurate as my old non instant read

I purchased two of these for stovetop cooking and they've proven to be indispensable. I'll be purchasing more as gifts.*The reason I've given 4 stars is, while I find them accurate, they're slow to register temps.

I like the long metal skewer part because it's handy to get to the inside of large roasts and I don't have to stick my hand in as far into the oven or grill. Reads much faster than my old analog thermometer and my other digital one with a cumbersome wire. I'm not the best cook and always have to cook with a thermometer to make sure I get the meats all the way to a safe temp. Can't be feeding the wife and kids uncooked meat!

I purchased this item only 4 months ago and when I went to use it again the battery leaked inside and the whole thermometer is broken and can't be used since the battery leaked
