Good pedals - mega grip
Got these so I count attach mini toe clips to my hybrid and I couldn't be happier. They're solid and provide excellent grip, though the spikes are pretty sharp and have taken some chunks out of my legs so you want to be careful with them.I've had no issues with them locking up, but please remember to grease the threads and the crank before attaching them. Too many people forget to grease new parts and it makes a huge difference. These are a great price for a quality pedal, grease them up and get out there!

Didn't last a week, but excellent customer service
I've updated my rating to four stars after the fast and effective customer service, I was offered a replacement set of pedals or a refund almost immediately.I'm not a specially heavy person (180lb) or a "power rider", the pedals started to bend and finally broke after using them for about 20 miles on relatively hilly terrain (Austin TX, so not a mountain situation). At least they were pretty grippy and smooth when they still were in one piece, for using on a flatter terrain where you don't need so much torque pedaling or if you have smaller feet so the pressure is focused on the areas closer to the axle joint they would be probably alright.

Where's the Instructions
The pedals arrived simply and adequately packaged but without installation instructions...the reason for the four-star rating. That's probably not an issue with 90% of your customers. However, I'm not a bike techie. I simply want to stay fit and do my part to save the planet with riding my low-end hybrid around town. I noticed a U-shaped distribution in reviews with a frequent low-star complaint that the pedals broke too quickly. Responses to these reviews noted that the pedal threads need greasing before installation. Ok, I don't want to buy a pound of green grease for a fingertip worth of it. Fortunately, my son, who knows a thing or two about bikes, lives close by. He answered my question about whether R and L was from the rider's perspective or from a viewer in front of the bike. He noted that the threads are reversed to save me some fumbling. Then he pointed me to his can of green grease and commented that I really needed to wrench-tighten the pedals to the crankshaft or damage will result. Since my son was somewhat tied up with deciding whether to have raspberry puree or pina colada mixed drinks for his upcoming Halloween party, his roommate did the final wrenching for tightening down the pedals to the crankshaft. I don't think I would have done an adequate job left to my judgment. Then rode the bike the four miles home.

Quick to Fail
Admittedly, I probably should've sent these back as soon as I opened the package. Upon opening them, I noticed the pedals had poor rotation; a good pedal should spin freely with a flick. However, these barely made a full rotation with a manual spin. Additionally, while the grips of the pedals are metal, the center spindle is plastic, which I was surprised by. But being only $10, I decided to give them a try regardless. After a proper change out with a pedal wrench, a headed out to give them a test spin. Unfortunately, these pedals didn't even make a 12 mile ride before I noticed something was wrong with them. Without looking closely, I noticed that my left foot felt as if it were sliding off the pedal. Closer inspection revealed that the pedal was bending as the center tube (where the ball bearings and grease are) did not fully extend throughout the plastic spindle. As you can see in the pictures, the plastic is failing, causing a bend in the pedal. The other pedal began showing the same signs after roughly 50 miles. While these may be fine for a kids bike, I would definitely advise against these for anyone looking to put miles I them. I'll be reaching out for a refund shortly for these.

These pedals were much better than I expected
These pedals were much better than I expected. I bought a pair for my wife's old mountain bike that we keep a second home. They seemed much higher quality than other lower price pedals. Most pedals in this price range are plastic. These are medal and light weight. The bearings seem set just right with not being too loose or too tight. I may get a pair of these for my old bike. Before these pedals my wife had used pedals with cleats but had many bad falls due to not being able to get out of the cleats fast enough to recover from starting to fall. She loves her new fit Tek pedals.

Very poor reliability
I tried two pair - two pair - and they both fell apart within a couple of months. These are just terrible quality if you're anyone who bikes with regularity. I'm a regular biker, and I've biked for decades. You will risk being stranded, or being without your bike while you have to replace these. Not worth the trouble. Let me assure you - stay away from these.

Beware Plastic Spindles! 13 day life span.
I am a roadie with over 100,000 miles. These pedals were for my son's mt. bike. He is 13. "Too good to be true" is an understatement. He rode a couple of days here at home and then we took the bike to a Boy Scout event and snap. When I was shopping for these I said, plastic spindle? That's not gonna last. And it did not. I suggest to not buy a product that has a description devoid of capitalization and grammar. I should have known better.

Very fragile pedals. Do not buy these!
I made the mistake of buying 2 pairs of these. They are extremely fragile and tend to crack as illustrated in my pictures ... and several other dissatisfied buyers. These broke while on a flat mountain bike ride with a few tree roots. Pay a little more and get other pedals. DO NOT BUT THESE ... THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY.
