It's a very realistic flame when used in a lamb with a diffuser. The bulb just now had some LEDs go bad. I purchased on March 2018 and today in July 2022. 4 yrs and 4 months of life.

First off, this bulb is really cool! For it to look realistic, it needs to be either far away or inside a much larger and translucent shade. Otherwise you see that its a bunch of dots, which ruins the illusion. It was brighter than I expected, and the total light output does flicker up and down. This combination can be distracting if you just want to use this for ambiance in a room where you are trying to watch TV. For that it is a bit much, but if you wanted to simulate a fireplace or torch it would be good. If you want to put it inside a flame shaped glass shade, use the ones that are about 7 inches high with a 3 1/4" fitter. It will not fit into the smaller 5" high 2 1/4" fitter shades. The 7 inch flame shades, while frosted, are still too close to the bulb and thus you see the individual dots. It still looks kind of cool, but you might try one size up (4 1/4" fitter) and some diffusing filler.

I purchased one each of this item and the similar "Lakes Multi-function LED Flickering Bulb, New Advanced Edition" (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NANGQT2). That one has the benefit of three different functions as well as a warmer (more orange-y glow) but the flicker flame effect on this one is slightly slower, which is a bit better. They both look great but due to the cost of almost $30 per bulb I had to ding it one star for value. I don't think they should be more than say $19.99 tops.

Such an amazing bulb. I got one to try out, and since have purchased several more for myself as well as a gift for relatives after they saw mine and gushed over it. We are big fans and will likely purchase more in the future. Can't wait to use these for Halloween, I am sure they will look amazing! You do need to be sure you are using a frosted glass shade to defuse the LED lights but the effect is truly amazing and realistic. Looks great with a normal lampshade on a standard lamp as well. Using one in my room as an accent light right now to create a soft warm glow at night. Highly recommend these and worth the price!

The media could not be loaded.  i have had these for several weeks and so far they have performed as advertised. The large lantern above the two led Tiki Torches (shown in the video) has an JUNOLUX led flame bulb that looks as real as it gets. The fixture you use these in must be frosted or colored to get the realistic effect. Everyone that has seen this believes its a real flame. The bulb is brighter than I was expecting, which I am glad of. In addition to the flame effect, it gives off sufficient lighting. They may be a little pricey, but if it last the 5 years its advertised for (based on 5 hours per day) , then its well worth the money.

It's fine. The effect isn't very convincing. Even with an opaque cover it still just looks like LEDs.

Got this great bulb for our son, for Christmas. He loves it! He's 35. Anything that's new in lighting ideas, he goes for!! This bulb is fun and very amusing. Glad we purchased it!

SO BUMMED. False advertising!! I searched for easily an hour on a flame bulb that Actually goes upside down.. so the base of the fire is on the other side of the bulb. This product clearly states in the description that the flame will flip for a top mounting fixture... Does not work that way. not hyped.

I chose to by this brand due to the good reviews and the specification (one of the highest lumens). It is bright and the cycling of the effect is good too, my only comments are that the light exits from the sides so immediately above the lamp is a dark zone and while the images show a reddish tint in reality it is more a soft yellow. For my application of lighting a skeleton for halloween from below I tilted the lamp slightly allowing some vertical lighting. Many reviews suggest a diffuser to break up the LED dots which works if you have the lamp easily visible. All in all a nice way to achieve a flame effect.
