Disappointing structural design; good appearance
First, I love the actual Axiim Q system. This is a review of the speaker stands, not the system. The appearance is good and matches well the industrial look of the system itself. The base is nice and heavy.Assembly involves using two screws to attach the post to the base and and two screws to the speaker mount. The screws attach to the post on both ends with a plastic or lightweight metal 'foot'. Once assembled, the post itself is not as strong and secure as I would like but probably adequate. The major problem is that of the first pair I ordered the screws on one of them would not tighten. It was like they were stripped. Amazon offered an exchange and I hoped it was due to an isolated defect. The third one that I received has the exact same problem.I contacted Axiim support and have not heard back yet, which is disappointing. I was a beta purchaser of the system itself and they were very responsive to problems and feedback.I ended up purchasing M6-1.0 40mm screws which correct the problem(s). I think the problem is that the first 1/4" or so of the screw holes are not correctly bored/are too wide. The screws provided are not long enough with the additional space the post feet/speaker mount adds to get deep enough into the holes for the screws to tighten.I do not think I should have to repair something I paid $100+ for per stand. I intend to keep attempting Axiim support to see what resolution they offer.
