If someone asked me for a definition of creativity, I would give them this book. It is a masterpiece of endless originality and precise craftsmanship - all created with antique pens and superb wit - every day for 10 years! The preface gives a peek into the artist's brain, soul, inspirations, techniques and tools, with a very knowledgeable look at his forebears. He admires the late19th century for its aspiring to the highest pinnacle of craftmanship; but he has in many ways surpassed those artists with his own work. Whether it is the impeccably painstaking and exacting perfectionism of details and crosshatching work or the astounding flights of fancy which soar far beyond the most famous Surrealists - I kept thinking of Duchamp, Dali, Ernst, Magritte (and Dadaism in general) - while those artists generally had one interesting concept which they explored in each painting, Jones' drawings explode and overflow with dozens of unexpected ideas in EACH drawing! We expect to see hands at the end of arms and feet at the bottom of legs. Jones instead constantly surprises us with a sphere for a foot, a pinwheel for a hand, while torsos morph into contraptions and otherworldly objects float over the heads. These sparks of imagination, the utter originality his ideas, the parallel worlds he conjures up and spins like cotton candy out of the ethers - that is the essence of creativity. What follows is 488 pages of whimsy, unexpected surprises, magic, wildly infinite imagination, cyberpunk rumblings, pixie dust, spontaneous combustion, whirligigs, zoetropes, calliopes, cameras obscura, underground comix and astonishing, spectacular delights.

A must have book by this author/artist ! A wonderful escape from this crazy world, to spend time with and be inspired by his art & let your mind go... And all the art is done with vintage/antique fountain pens! Literally Fantastic !
