Honky Tonk Freeway [DVD]

Beyond a doubt one of the worst “comedies” I have ever experienced! Nothing funny whatsoever in this complete stinker. This film bombed notoriously at the box office, for good reason. Schlesinger was a great dramatic director, but comedy was obviously not his forte. Truly terrible film on so many levels. I didn’t even crack a smile once through this entire train wreck of a movie.

Man this is one of the best movies iv seen in a while. Funny thing the town of tic law was filmed in MT Dora, FL and they actually painted the entire town pink for the movie.

PURCHASED AS GIFT FOR SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAD A BROKEN VHS TAPE OF IT.A long and involved plot involving political shenanigans to build a highway through a previously served city without providing one and off ramps for local access. A bit dated, but my Sister likes it.

As a native floridian it was an embarrassment to have such a stupid film take place in Florida. Great actors who sold their souls to the devil for a dime. Stupid. disgusting. Without any redeeming qualities.

This is a classic 80's movie with all the great stars of the day. Occasionally found on cable, but not often enough. The DVD is very hard to find and extremely expensive new as it has been out of print for decades.Story of a dying Florida town passed over for an exit on the freeway that cuts through their town. They take it upon themselves to create an off ramp and kidnap all the motorists coming off the road. The movie follows all the wacky characters driving to Florida who get held hostage and the ensuing results.

Classic Comedy, Major Stars for a low promoted movie of its day. A hidden gem. Sure the acting is not great and the plot is far fetched, but it is just absolutely funny. If someone loves older comedies of early 80s, this one is worth adding to collection. Its rare so price is high.

Fluff entertainment with dozens of FAMILIAR faces!Laugh a minute, and the occasional groan . . . . . .MOST enjoyable to those of us over fifty.

I rented this video when it first came out in the 1980's and I loved it. There are many stories intertwined together throughout the movie. When I saw I could purchase it on Amazon video to watch whenever I wanted, I knew I had to purchase it. Watched it the other night and still very funny. I have seen it many times in the past so I know what is coming next in the movie. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good comedy.

I think the makers were aiming to make a 'wacky' road movie full of fun characters whose stories intertwine at the end, but this doesn't quite hit the spot. Almost all the characters are unpleasant and you can't warm to them at all. Two inept bank robbers, a sort of pimp who seems to be recruiting girls as he goes along, an alcoholic middle-aged lady and a young man who seems to have dumped his wife and family and has now fallen in love with a lady of easy virtue who is keen to seduce other men at the drop of a hat! Pity, as it's quite a good cast including Jessica Tandy, Beau Bridges and William Devane, but I suspect that not many of them will include this film on their CVs. The most accomplished part of the film is the multi-vehicle pile up at the end, which is very well done but it's hardly worth sitting through the film just for this. The sleeve notes describe it as 'outrageously entertaining' but don't be fooled.

This film has a national lampoon's feel to it but suffers from having too many characters and too many side stories that ends up making the film slightly disjointed.Overall though it is still good for a laugh.
