Product shorting out of the box. Frieling uninterested in potential dangerous fault
Purchased and returned two units both with same fault. Plugging the unit in straight out of the box caused the 20A breaker to instantly trip. Product is rated at 1800W max, so a 20A fuse is sufficient. This was on different fully functional 20A circuits which have been used and tested with many different appliances. Its my guess the unit should not be drawing a high current before it is turned on via the control panel. Judging by the arc that partially welded the plug and left a burn mark on the outlet I imagine it was shorting.I contacted Frieling to inform them about potentially faulty products being sold on Amazon and sent them copies of receipts and a photo of the plug. I also offered them a chance to purchase the unit off me so they could diagnose the issue. I assumed they would have been eager to learn about such a dangerous issue. If a customer were to purchase a unit and plug it into a circuit which was not protected with the correct fuse a short could overload and burn out the circuit to the outlet. However, I have had no follow-up response from Frieling, they maintained this was not a known issue, despite another similar review on Amazon. The fact the they do not want to learn more about this case suggests to me that they may already know what the issue might be, which if true would be very concerning. To give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe this is just a bad batch and they are slow to follow up on complaints!

Very Nice Cooktop, Functional and Elegant
I bought and compared this Caso two burner with the Ovente two burner cooktop. I was inspired by the person who took the Ovente apart to quiet the beeper, and showed what the insides of that cooktop looked like. I like to cook, and in our new living situation we weren't able to have gas, so I decided to do some research on the most agreeable induction cooktop I could find.Without going into tremendous detail--I'll post pictures for those interested--I compared the size of the induction coils between the two products by boiling water in a cast iron pan and looking at the bubble pattern as the pan got hot. The Caso, rated at 1800 watts total, only sends 1400 to a single burner at a time (and when two burners are active, will only supply a set total, taking away from one if you run the second too high. The Ovente, I believe, sends the full 1800 to the burner, and it was definitely quicker. But besides the difference in wattage, the burners on the two units looked about the same size in the pan.We ultimately chose the Caso, for its fit/finish, which are classy and modern, with real stainless trim. The Ovente is a more powerful cooktop and if having more time was the driving force of my life, I might have chosen it for just that. But the Caso has been pleasant to use. I finally followed through on removing the sound beeper that chimes at each start up, power change, or timer off. It was slightly less loudly shrill than the Ovente, and having it gone is a joy. I'll include photos of the inside. I measured the burner coil at 7" outer diameter. The buzzer is labeled on the board, and reversibly removable, if anyone chooses to do the same (though I'm sure the company would rather you not). The timer feature is one nice upgrade from gas, in that you can put the same amount of water in your teapot each morning, set the timer to four minutes and walk away. Or it will boil rice for 20 minutes, and turn off.Overall it's been a great product, albeit for a patient cook. Certainly there are cheaper cooktops out there, but the quality of this one stands out.

Return
It works well mostly but as many other induction cooktops (not all) has an high pitch noise at high temperature. I had to return it.

Dependable induction cooktop, worth the extra $
Have had this for 4 months. It's great--I usually do not take the time to write reviews but more reviews for this would have sped up my own purchase so here you go. Dependable, just plugged it in and it worked. Am happy I paid a little more and got a better product bc looked at the entry range of single pot portable induction cooktops and this one has less of the problems that people complained about for cheaper ones--yes, there is a bit of a high pitched noise in the beginning when you turn it on--it's worse for small pots and if there's less in the pot, but the sound fades in a few seconds and is well within the range of normal cooking noise and is a known characteristic of portable induction cooktops. It's less for this model--part of what I paid for. I can't keep it as black and spotless as the day I bought it (a faint ring is visible) but doesn't detract from function and is to be expected. Can modify temp by levels (+/-) or temperature numbers, has the same advantages & disadvantages of induction over gas (extremely fast to boil, fantastic; cannot offer as finetuned a temperature modulation as gas--only noticeable when I'm melting sugar or some uncommon cooking). Timer is great, wish we had that on gas cooktops too. Bought it to tide us over while gas cooktop is getting replaced, and ended up keeping it. Definitely like it more and more over time. More energy efficient than I expected, as it is used for hours every day and there's been negligible increase in utility cost.

One Star
Product not compatible with electric installation. Fuse would go off instantly. Initial and replacement product. Both returned.
