iBOLTxProDock Holder with 17mm Ball Connection- Replacement Holder Mounts.

I received this yesterday and I'm pretty impressed. The reason I bought it was that I had an extra mount that came with my Garmin GPS. I did a little research and found that the Garmin has a 17mm ball, and that is precisely what the iBolt requires. This is my first phone mount.The phone mount arrived a day late, but that wasn't the seller's fault. It was well boxed and came in an OEM plastic cover. It did not come with instructions or any paperwork, but that was as expected since it is a "part" and not the full system. Instructions aren't necessary, though.It pops right on the 17mm ball and holds snugly. I had no problem putting it on either of my two mount balls. Off to pizza hut drive through with a movie playing. I drive a land rover discovery and it is basically a nice Jeep. It bounces, it rattles... The phone never moved.A couple of things may not be obvious from the description and picture. First, this unit is very well built. It is heavier than it looks and for instance, the extending arm on the top has metal arms. The bottom arms extend. The top arm makes room for different size devices so it does have a spring. This means that putting the device in and taking it out requires two hands. It is doable. The back of the mount has a channel for your charging cable. It appears that it will route, but not hold, the cable. This unit doesn't come with a cable.The ibolt clearly holds a Note 3. It also holds my Note 3 with Otterbox Defender and, surprisingly my Note 3 with a huge ZeroLemon battery and case. The latter is the outer limit of thickness that the ibolt will hold.I like!My sole reason for no fifth star is that placing the phone in and taking it out is a two handed affair. I had hoped that the top piece was more permanently adjustable. Having said that without the spring of probably wouldn't grip my phone so tightly.

So this is my second. This first was purchased back in March of 2013, and two years, many devices and much abuse later, it finally gave out. I have to say I was very impressed with the way it held out. It was stretched to the limits when I shoved a Galaxy Note2, Otterbox and all, in there but this little guy definitely gave me a good run. I loved the fact that the power connections were held in the back and that I could easily rotate the holder 180 degrees if my phone's power was on the opposite end, which ended up being the case with my current phone. It proved to be a very versatile dock in many ways when it came to my fiancé driving my car and using it, or using it for my son's phone or my BFF's or whoever the heck's phone needed juice at the time.This is one of those products that is every bit worth what you pay for it. It's easy to install, holds up well, isn't made from that flimsy cheap plastic (you know the kind I mean) and if you can get any docking station, mount or any similar device to withstand over 600 days of nearly daily abuse, then I'd definitely say you've gotten your money's worth out of it. What finally ended up giving out was the side with the single arm. That extending piece that rests against your device is what broke in half. And I'm not surprised since that is the one piece that is pulled on every time it's used. Can't say I'm surprised it finally gave out. Not surprised, I ordered another one either regardless. Love this thing! ;)

The original lasted about three years. I noticed it was getting loose where the cradle connects to the stem, but I didn't figure out exactly what was going on at the time. Ultimately the clamp part at the top came off when the pins worked their way out. This one started getting loose in the same way, but after only a couple of weeks, not years this time. There is an o-ring at the back of the socket that broke loose. I was able to just set it back in, but nothing permanent. It's okay--3 stars.

I don't like universal car docks. That said, I had an iBolt dock for my Galaxy, but would not fit for my new Droid Turbo. Apparently no one makes custom docks anymore. This is one of the few universal docks that doesn't have constant pressure on the volume controls. Since I already had an iBolt mount, I took the suction cup and put this holder right on it. The spring clamp is strong, which holds the phone securely, but may be too hard for some people to put the phone in and out. I just wedge the phone under the back part of the clamp and push up. I use my own 2A power cord. There are guides on the back, to keep the cord in place and ready to plug in. I would prefer a custom built dock, with a built-in charging port, but this is the next best thing.

I purchased this iBolt xProDock holder for my car a few months back. It was a replacement for the first one I bought (that came with the window suction cup mount). Although I was very disappointed that the top piece of plastic that holds the phone firmly cracked in half, I should be happy that it lasted for over 3 years! I used it every day and the past year and a half, with a Samsung Note 4 - which is a very large phone which put a lot of stress on it. This full iBolt xProDock holder and window mount work great! I have never had one problem with the hold until now. The suction cup has never fallen off of my windshield. This holder is made of strong plastic and some metal and is adjustable for just about any size phone (remember, I have a 5.7” screen on my Note 4). It also has 2 adjustable mounts on the bottom so it will secure your phone with simplicity. I effortlessly removed the old mount and placed this one on my current iBolt windshield mount. You can use this holder with a few different iBolt mounts such as the windshield mount, vent mount, and miniball mount. You can also use any standard 17mm mount with a small ball. As for the shipping, it was packed well and there were no dents or rips in the shipping material. It arrived within a few days of when I purchased it.So far, I am very pleased with this smartphone holder. I already had a ibolt mount, so purchased this holder for my phone. Easy to use and the phone will not come out until you release it yourself. Great quality at a good price. Only drawback is that it took a while to received it as it come from out of country. The estimated delivery was even pushed back a few times, but it was worth the wait.
