An outstanding portable fan (a genuine Amazon hidden gem)
This is hands down one of the best “finds” I’ve made over the years on Amazon, having bought more than one for different purposes. It’s rare that an Amazon purchase is not just better value, but actually functionally superior to most local offerings such as John Lewis or Argos etc. It is relatively pricey compared to others in the same category, but in this case, you don’t get what you don’t pay for; it’s in a class of its own.It is powered by a USB connection that can be plugged into a wall adapter, or a battery pack. It has two settings, gentle and powerful. The gentle setting is relatively quiet, the powerful is stronger than you’d expect. Obviously it can’t rival a full sized fan, but the magic of the clip is that you can mount it closer to your head in situations where you are desperate for serious cooling. We’ve travelled with it (using portable batteries on the move) and had it going on busses, guest rooms with inadequate cooling, even when working at a desk. It doesn’t oscillate obviously, but it offers pretty much full 360 tilt and rotation. I wouldn’t change a thing. The oldest has lasted years so longevity isn’t an issue either. It has a somewhat chunky profile I suppose, but more importantly it’s lightweight and the frame keeps it safe which ultimately is a preferable design choice, so the size is only an issue if you don’t have space to carry it. Having grown to love it, I usually try to make space. Also, of course I could be wrong, but the Japanese characters covering the box suggests it’s imported into Japan making it more than just a cheap Chinese knock off, and this is backed up by the functionality.Right now I have it here in the hospital keeping me cool while I keep an eye on my newborn. And yet again, amid this heatwave we are currently facing, I was overwhelmed with how grateful I am for owning it as I unpacked it and mounted it by my head, allowing my wife full guilt-free use of the main fan!6/5 stars, honestly. If you're looking for a good compact desk fan that can double as a portable device, look no further. And as I said, pairs excellently with a portable battery pack where the situation calls for it.

Works exactly as it should
This is a good simple fan. It has two speed settings, the low one is quiet and still gives enough of a breeze and the higher one is quite powerful to work when it's at a distance from you. Its volume is what you'd expect. Well worth the price and of course useful to have a clip.

Genuinely QUIET, small but good air flow for a desk etc.
Bought for the office and works very well. Some of these little fans are either very loud or just don't push enough air (or both!) but this one is very good. It has 2-speeds and one is almost completely silent (in an open plan office) and creates a gentle airflow which you could have on all day. Then the higher speed setting is a little louder but still not enough to annoy anyone and creates enough air to cool you down after a lunchtime walk etc.A nice feature is that with all the pivot points you can get this into any angle - you'll find one that works.Being powered by a USB lead is also convenient as long as you're near a PC or similar. It's a fairly plasticy thing (hence 4 stars) but for under £12 you can't expect miracles.Edit: I've just ordered a second one for home office use (now £15). They really are worth it for the very low noise levels as I tried a different one and it was way too noisy. These aren't the best looking with their dual clip/base system but they WORK and are QUIET and thats the most important thing.

Very well thought out, quiet and good value
A well-designed product for personal use, scaled to fit onto your desk without taking up much space. The base doubles as a stand and as a large bulldog clip, so if there is no space on your desk then you can clip it to a shelf, horizontally or vertically. The fan can then be rotated NSEW by 180 degrees, so it is pretty much guaranteed that you will be able to angle it towards you. It will then run at one of two speeds. The low setting is very quiet indeed but can be felt as a pleasant flow of cool air from 2-3 feet away. If won't cause your papers to blow off your desk. The high setting is louder and more suited for settings where the fan is 4-5 feet away. Very portable and as it runs of USB you can plug it into your monitor, a hub, or a plug as you wish.

Efficient and quiet
I'm editing this review because I originally gave it a 1 star as my fan first arrived without the USB power cable so was pretty much useless to me (one end of the cable is a power jack-type that connects to fan and other, usb, connects to computer). After contacting customer support though I've got very quick response and before I knew the replacement was already on the way. Big plus for such quick support and saving on the hassle of never-ending emails exchange. As for the product itself, it does what it says and so far as I've been using it (over a week) it works well. In the low speed mode fan is pretty quiet and doesn't disturb me from work, while still actually providing quite good cooling. I'm working in the office surrounded by glass and having sun for most of the day and so far only once really had to switch to full speed mode. Clip is very strong and might be a little bit of a problem fixing the fan to some of the monitors, if anyone would try that. No problem fixing to the desk but for me it works just well standing on the desk on its own and the rubber feet keep it in place. In my case the plastic base of the fan's clip, which is used for a stand is slightly curved so it can wobble a little when trying to adjust fan's position or switch the speeds but this still didn't cause any vibrations when fan is working. All in all I'm happy with the product and seller's support and for the price it was surely a good buy.
