Quilts for Beginners: Learn How to Quilt with Easy-to-Learn Quilting Techniques, plus Quilting Supplies and Quilt Patterns Paperback – February 14, 2014

I bought this book over a year ago and was inspired to write a review tonight because I still refer to this one book after making several quilts and taking a quilting class. The book is a terrific reference guide. I made the quilt as you go runner and it helped me a lot and then I made Project 2 the Easy Rail Fence Quilt over the first few months I had the book. Binding a quilt can be intimidating.....use the instructions in this book and it is easy to bind a quilt project!!! I tried a bunch of different ways and sewing the binding to the back makes a much neater final result for a beginner quilter in my experience. Many tutorials tell you to bind to the front and for a beginner quilter it is harder. Easy binding instructions alone make this book worthwhile!

I am new to quilting (well, since I don't piece-quilt, I call it blanket-making), and after my first blanket, I knew I could use some help with technique.For my simple needs (lots of experience sewing), I found this book to be just the ticket. Short, to the point, well organized, and filled with tips that anyone can benefit by.In particular, I found the information on assembling the quilt to be a treasure beyond description. Where I had been pinning the layers together and machine basting, the author suggested using basting spray. OMG, what a difference both in time and ease! Where I had struggled before, I was able to breeze through the quilting process. This is just one of the tips that makes this book worth every penny.

This is the most comprehensive, most easily understood beginner's quilting book I've ever read! I love all the diagrams and explanations to the different steps in quilting that are included in this book. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone interested in quilting.

I love that the instructions are very clear and detailed in a step-by-step manner that makes it easy for a novice like me to follow. I are clearly a novice when it comes to machine piecing........I have been hand piecing for several years but never seem to get a top completed, much less quilted and finished. It just takes too darn long to draw all of the pieces, then cut them, the piece them together to make a block, then sew the super long sashing and corner post units.....I want to learn to machine piece so that I can actually finish a top that can then be quilted by a long-arm pro.

This is the first book I’ve read about quilting even though I have taken some “basic” classes. I learned a lot in this book that I had never learned even though I have been trying to quilt for several years now. The book is written with very clear instructions and the pictures really help to understand the instructions. I highly recommend this book and will be using it as a reference book often.

Got this as a gift for a friend of mine who was just trying to learn to quilt. It Was very helpful.

Felicity starts with the basic materials - and thoroughly explains each one of them. She explained WHY I need a 1/4" foot. I like the size of the book, and I knew as soon as I opened it, I had really gotten the quilting book that I had been looking for all along. I am starting a quilt today. This is a GREAT book. It you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL about quilting, but want to learn - THIS is the book for you!

I like the book for beginning quilting & want to give a 5 rating but it needed editing/updating on pages here/there (one was on the instructions #3, where is the mention of the yellow fabric).

I had read a few magazines and still had important questions.This book is absolutely WONDERFUL my questions are answered and I cant wait to do one of the project's in Felicity's book.Thank you will be signing up for the news letter.

Just what I was looking for. An easy read showing step by step from what tools are needed, material to choose, suggested quick styles of quilts to make, cutting, sewing etc. a very comprehensive guide. Would recommend to anyone just about to start quilting

as a new sewer I was able to follow instructions and make the quilts look like the photos and while my first effort wouldnt stand close examination by an experienced quilter I was more than delighted and am now hooked and my second is better than my first

Can only say that this book is not very long and gives basic information on quilting. Great for beginners to read

This is a short book but covers enough of the basics so you can make yourself a reasonable quilt. There are plenty of longer (and more expensive) books but if you're a complete beginner this book will get you started
