Dementia must. Soothing
Gave to my mother who has dementia. At first she barely looked at it, then she started feeling through the pages and feeling different textures. On good days we work on shoe laces. on rough days, the fur pages are enough to sooth her nervousness. The apple tree is a great victory for her and aids fine motor control.

Good brain stimulation
Pricey, but helpful when your family member gets bored. Nice fidget options and texture variety. My dad likes the apple tree activity.

Caretakers Respite
My 96 year old mother who suffers from dementia loves this book. She can fidget with the book for a few hours. Since she lives with me this allows me some caretaking respite. The home health aid is allergic to cats so the page that has fur sets off an allergic reaction even if she is in the same room. She just has to be in a separate room and thankfully she just comes in once a week.

Love at first sight!
My 101-year-old mother with dementia can look at this for hours. It's a big, sturdy, felt book that sits comfortably in her lap. She can look at a single page for an hour, just touching and playing with it. It is really beautiful and thoughtfully made. Brilliant! Some tips:--The first page has five pictures of animals and a page of brown fur. The first time I gave it to her, I asked her what the name of each animal was, one-by-one. She could remember some names and not others. Then I said, what do they have in common? They have brown fur in common! She was so happy and started stroking the fur, saying how beautiful it was.--There is a page with apples in a tree. The velcro was a little strong at first, so I had to detach the apples and then put them back on more lightly. After that, she was able to play with it. I told her, make all the apples fall out of the tree! Can you put an apple in the basket? Now, make all the apples go back on the tree! Do you see the little green (velcro) leaves? Each apple has its own place! She was enchanted and kept on playing with it.--The page of gold sequins is a bit stiff in the beginning, so I took a plastic knife and turned all the sequins in one direction, then the other, to get things going for her. After that, she was able to do it with a finger. Now she can sit there just drawing on the page for hours.--Very pleased that she was able to remember how to braid!--She even sat for a long time playing with the little dog who has a ring on his collar. She was enchanted. She pushed the ring to one side and told me, "it was on the other side for a long time. Now we will keep it here. "I have to say, this is a big success. With just a few small prompts from me, she can keep herself busy for a long time. She told me, "I love this book. Thank you for this gift!"

Very nice product
This is a really nice book. It has lots of different textures and "things to do" like zippers and shoestrings and when Mom's dementia is in full swing and she is feeling anxious it always gives her something to focus on.
