Freaking Awesome !
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You so much, Tom Kerridge, for putting this book together.Similar to Ton's story from the book I turned 40 recently and wasn't too happy with the way I looked and I have been trying for the last couple of months to get down to my ideal body weight which means losing 2-3 stone.I have looked at Healthy Eating diets, options, other suppliers, but everything seemed to be pretty bland looking. Then I tried a Chicken Tikka Dish from this very book that I had at my Sister's house and I was blown away by the flavour combination and the fact that it was a healthy meal, so that combined with the transformation that "Big Tom! went through I was hooked. So I went ahead and bought this book and its "Freaking Awesome!I have tried a few of the Breakfast Meals so far, in particular, the "Overnight Porridge and Berry Compote" and the Cajun Scrambled Eggs and they are super tasty, and the best part of these meals even though its only breakfast, You Don't Feel Hungry an hour later which has stopped me from wanting to snack between meals.I don't know how Tom does it but it's incredible, as snacking between meals is often the reason why most diets don't work. I have certainly been guilty of snacking between meals until I started cooking Tom's Meals from this book. The ingredients Tom uses and even substitute ingredients that replace all the bad stuff we normally consume, are all readily available at most supermarkets which makes getting the stuff you need really easy.Tom also uses some very creative ways of incorporating flavour to the dishes without the calories which is an incredible achievement to me, as Tom has managed to make Healthy Food Interesting, Enjoyable and keeps you feeling full through the day. Some of the Meals, in particular, the Main Meals, will take a little time to do, but even with the busy lifestyles we lead, most of us, if not all of us, get at least 1 or 2 days off in the week, so with a little bit of good organisation and discipline, you can really enjoy the food in Tom's book and lead a Healthy Eating Lifestyle at the same time.HIGHLY RECOMMEDED !!

Cliche alert, but you can't tell these are more healthy recipes.
Have recently purchased a few 'healthier' eating books and after trying a good few recipes out, this book (along with his Lose Weigh Get Fit) is in my opinion the best. You just seem to get more flavourful dishes and non of them are that difficult to make. And whilst you will need to do a bit of prep, none of them seem to take that long.As with all recipes having good quality ingredients is key. Whilst all the fresh ingredients are easily available, there are a few sauces and pastes in here that may not immediately seem easily accessible. However I did find the vast majority of them in my local supermarket in areas on aisles I've never really visited before. And a visit to a specialist supermarket or internet order will get you anything extra you need in terms of non perishable stuff.I also like how the dishes are low in calories but also contain healthy ingredients. One of two other highly lauded diet books seem to consist of meals that whilst are low in calories, do not seem to contain that many healthy ingredients. And at times just seem to be lower portion size versions of familiar dishes with one or two high calorie ingredients swapped out. Nothing wrong with that as such, but at times you think you may as well buy the low fat ready meals if that's all you are doing. Where as the recipes in here are full of healthy ingredients and really do taste great. You'll be using spices a lot more if you use these recipes, but that's not a bad thing. And as the title of my review suggests, you really can not tell that these are lower calorie meals from a flavour perspective and the portion sizes are more than adequate, which to me is essential if you are going to stick to more healthy eating.

Give it a go
I am a big lad, and do struggle with weight issues, saw the program on the telly and thought bang on, tasty looking dinners and no too hard to make, ok so it is the telly and obviously edits and whatever will make it seem easier than what it is but why no give it a go if it doesn’t work then back to a chippy tea, had the book for about three weeks and have made about 12/13 recipes. So far what I have made has been tasty and filling (lot of corgettes), but personally I find some of the recipes not complicated but fiddly, too many ingredients in some, but this is maybe because I am trying the recipes for the first time so I’m continually checking the page to see if I am doing it right, which with the one layer lasagne I obviously didn’t because the amount of liquid in the dish I had left in the dish, no no no no I definitely didn’t get that right no idea courgettes dripped out water. Some of the ingredients maybe off putting I’m just an ordinary everyday guy, ask me what a Carraway Seed is and I will look at you smile and blink no idea, but 79p at the local supermarket result, see I don’t use posh shops I’m normal supermarket and thought I wouldn’t get some of these ingredients in there but managed to get most of them, ( just don’t ask for a substitute item if doing an online shop cause gawd knows what you would get),also when a recipe calls for Beef Consommé eh what, no I’m no paying £1.71 for a tin of soup I replace with the stock pots, rice wine replace with fino sherry (only cause I googled it) When starting out there may be an initial expensive spend, if like me you want all the ingredients at the one go, i.e back to the Carraway Seeds just so they are there and the rest, (got everything except Basil though didn’t I, I was raging 😤), but I would give it a try, definitely in my opinion not a recipe there in the book for when you get back into the house to just say “oh I’ll whip up a quick Tom”, they do take time, a lot of ingredients but its actually no bad and now I have Carraway Seeds still don’t know what they are but 😀

Tasty healthy recipes
Me and my husband love these recipes. We have tried over half of them by now and it has only been one that disappointed. The recipes are easy to follow, but don't expect them to be quick to execute, quite a few of them require quite a bit of preparation, but as most dishes are well suited for freezing I don't think that is a problem.

Really great "diet" book
I've skimmed the kindle version i bought for a quick overview and like this very sensible approach to trying to lose weight but without sacrificing flavour, and still having a reasonable size portion. The recipes are enticing, interesting and without "cheffy" trendy ingredients. Each recipe has an approx calorie count and there is a list of calories per common food item, helpful if you want to substitute when the recipe includes things you don't care for. A lovely jolly down to earth approach from a man i knew little about, but who is a wonderful advert for his recipes and book. I'm going to enjoy making many of these recipes for the whole family without telling them they are low calorie meals, that way i can try and discretely stay on a diet but without having to prepare two different meals at each sitting. Many thanks to the chef/author for including so many "comfort" dishes that would normally be no go for dieters.
