The Atlas Paradox: The Incredible Sequel to International Bestseller The Atlas Six (The Atlas trilogy, 2)

Incredible!
Honestly this book is simply incredible. We dive deep into the story as it unfolds before us offering a very in-depth and intricate story. The first book seemingly set the scene and we then were plunged into the Atlas Paradox entirely! We learn so much more about the Society and we see each character develop (or deteriorate) as each page turns. We see how the effects of death and loss consumed those in the house and how it makes them stronger all the same.We see love, or at least a form of it, we see plenty of action and the twists and turns just keep us wanting more until the very end.Definitely well recommended and it made me dive straight into book three, wanting to know how it continues as things continue to expand at a rate that only the universe can compete with.

Incredible?
I am full. My mind is still trying to process the psychoanalysis, the quantum physics and the moral hypocrisy of geo politics. The relationships between ‘colleagues’. What on earth have I just read? Why is my brain spinning?Oh my God where is the final part of this marvellous story?

Loses the oomph of the first
Ultimately still lots to enjoy, but much looser plot-wise, and the characters felt thinner this time around. The first book held so much promise that it was admittedly a little disappointing but still an enjoyable read.

A bit more 'heavy going' than the "Six"...
... but very descriptive and very enjoyable.

An arresting extravaganza
The Atlas Paradox is an arresting extravaganza of a book that evolves every aspect of The Atlas Six to continue our journey in this world marked by betrayal, deception and thunderbolt-like twists.Blake instantly sucks you back into this fascinating and multi-layered scheming world. I really enjoyed the opening ritual for how intense and atmospheric it was. Instantly, it set the tone for how psychological and character driven this story would be, while also introducing new elements into everyone’s dynamics. These are fractured relationships, constantly changing and evolving. It felt so good to be back with these scheming and deeply flawed characters.I really love how much this book feels like an intricate puzzle – with all the pieces slowly slotting into place. It’s such a twisty and interesting story with unexpected elements and some academic flourishes that make my heart sing. Also, you get a chance to really delve into everyone’s psyches through their perspectives and analyse their actions, while their changing dynamics are fascinating and multi-layered. Seeing them from one another’s perspectives also adds that extra layer of twists and turns. The sheer enjoyment that comes piecing together what you know with what they know feels like such an adventure and a revelation. When that moment of realisation hits, it is electric. The ending is absolutely fantastic; feeling like a satisfying and explosive culmination of everything that has come before. It’s such a smart and interesting way to end all the previous action. I love how Blake builds to such a brilliant payoff for the book and all its winding, ornate and intersecting plotlines. The delicate balance of all of these themes and stories is a tightrope Blake walks expertly, allowing each character and storyline to have their moment in the sun. I left the book knowing I will need the next part as soon as I can obtain it.The Atlas Paradox is a vortex of a book, pulling you into its destructive and dangerously entrancing path.

We find out what happened to Libby
There’s an interesting side-plot in this book, a consequence of Libby’s disappearance. The side-plot has an interesting and resolved story arc that has clearly made waves, so I’ll be interested to see if this builds to any sort of tsunami in book 3. The characters themselves are also changing as they learn more about themselves and each other; I know this happens in all good stories but their flaws and preconceptions were so strong and sometimes aggressive that the changes make magical sparks fly. I look forward to book 3 and wish I didn’t have to wait a year!

Good but not sensational
I enjoyed reading this series but I’m not sure how it became a “tiktok sensation”. The writing was ok, the characters were interesting but more like caricatures than fully rounded people. The overall premise is great, just wish the writing had been better.

Read the Magic
Back with a large slice of fantastical dark academia we are at the Alexandrian Society once more. This is the follow up to The Atlas Six and I had to go back and remind myself what happened because otherwise I would be all at sea. This is a complex, twisting and fantastical plot. A difficult follow up and initially I struggled to place what was happening within minds and dreamscapes it can be confusing to know what is going on!‘Well, I’m sure it was…not at all some kind of ongoing experiment to indoctrinate you into their cult of homicidal academia.’I once again found myself not instantly liking these characters, except perhaps Libby. She is the only one I truly rooted for but as in The Secret History (where I couldn’t stand the characters either!) I couldn’t stop reading. It is dark, thrilling, at times a little impenetrable but oh so addictive read!‘There are fractures amongst the remaining initiates. It will not be difficult to find the cracks in the societies foundation.’The relationships are messy, anguished and they are all selfish individuals, but they do seem to ultimately want to help each other, whilst there is a very dark undercurrent which will come to fruition in the final installment, I ended up racing through this and now I have to wait for the last part….Read the magic

Excellent!
Extraordinarily complex. It's an intricate read on many levels. From book 1, Atlas 6, a second installment reader should have already bought into the theme, plot, and premise. If that's the case, it’s a must-read in the genre from an author largely unknown 2 years ago.The characters, both protagonists and antagonists, are detestable. It's not easy to write such self-loathing characters consumed by their lack of redeeming social value. Delightful! Blake has the authoring skill for character development. I’ve not read a similar character-centric writer since Pynchon. The writing is extraordinarily skillful. Blake's writing has been the highlight for me.Blakes’s word-hoard palette is phenomenal. It’s fun to read such an expansive vocabulary correctly applied to the turn of a phrase. The twists and turns of conversation are just fun.Anyway, the characters are left trapped in a trap of their own making by the end. They remain so far incapable of even short-duration cooperation to engineer their way out of the trap. The third installment should be fun.
