Summer 2013 update: We did purchase a commercial grade manual-turn reel to hold the cover. At end of last season, we made sure the cover was dry. Wrapped the white plastic cover over it and secured with twine the entire length. Then we took a heavy clear plastic and wrapped the whole unit again, also securing it with heavy twine by starting at one end and winding it around the length of the reel. Whole process took under an hour - the result- when we reopened this year, no mold, no mildew, no tears. Pool is regularly staying at 86-88 degrees. Seams look like they have some wear but still totally functional. I believe double-wrapping for the winter protected it from temperature changes and the wind.Original comment: Ordered July 18 and delivery promised between July 24 to July 26. Shipment arrived July 21. That tells me the seller received the order and processed it immediately. I did find that this particular product was cheaper to buy through Amazon than directly from the seller's website. The description of this solar blanket states it can raise the pool temperature by 15 degrees. We installed it on the pool 7 days ago and started at a temperature of 72 degrees. Each day it rose by 2 degrees and is now at 86, having achieved a 14 degree increase. We expect that it will continue to rise and surpass the 15 degrees promised. It is a heavier cover than we were accustomed to. After consulting with In The Swim regarding a cover reel that can handle the weight of this cover, a commercial grade reel was recommended. We will be purchasing this shortly. For that purchase we found that it is cheaper to buy directly from the seller than from Amazon.Great purchase.Add-on note: Aug 2nd - pool is up to 88 degrees, for a 16 degree change which surpasses what the seller promised. With temps reaching 100 this coming weekend, I'm sure we'll hit at least 90 in the pool - heaven!

Well Worth the Money - Update after 3 years
Well worth the money just for the reduction in over night heat loss and evaporation. I figure it will cut my electric pool heater costs at least in half. I have not had the cover long enough to experience meaningful solar heating benefits. It is January 3, and the days are very short. Also in the midst of a nationwide deep freeze. But I am sure there will be some benefit in those months leading up to summer where an extra 4 or 5 degrees of solar heat will make swimming more comfortable. Product is well made in the USA. They also sell USA made devices to roll the cover up on. Not sure any cover will last 8 years in Florida's intense summer sun. 2 or 3 years would be great. UPDATE - Nov. 2017 - New Pool Heater but No Pool Cover. versus Dec. 2017 - with pool cover (actually swam on New Year's Eve.) The added cost to heat the pool went from about $158 in Nov. to only $50 in Dec.. My numbers are as good, or maybe a tiny bit better than our friends with pool heaters and covers in SW Florida. After 3 years of being either on the water, or on the reel baking in the Florida summer sun, the bubbles that were exposed to the sun while on the reel (outer layers only) deteriorated. The bottom layers were still fine. No big deal. I will order another one. This time I will cover it while in summer storage. The Florida sun will cook the devil out of anything.

Good thick cover
Been using this for about two months on our pool, combined with a mini solar heater. My attempt to extend our pool weekends here in central Florida. The cover seems to be great thus far. We have a big pool, so my only thing would be a roller or easier way to take it off. I don’t plan on using the cover much, just these times of the year I want to keep the water warm for next weekend. I’m sure these are not long lasting products, but the thickness seems durable. Make no mistake, the sun and chlorine will fade or burn through about anything down here, if you leave it out long enough. I’ll update in a year, as to the condition.

Awesome.
I'm really surprised at how much of an effect this has.I experimented a bit and was surprised at a few things. In the end way to maximize pool temperature is: Leave cover on all the time except when using pool. Even during the day when its sunny out leave the cover on. Always run pump during the day, even at very low setting, eg I run it at 30GPM from 10am-6pm. Do not run it at night, it just improves heat loss, even with the cover.Reasons for this is basically:1. Sun heats the cover up, so you need water circulating to maximize transfer of heat from cover to water during the day.2. At night you want the opposite, no water circulation to minimize transfer of heat from water to cold cover.3. At least for us, it is often very windy. Any time the cover is off, even during the day, there is so much water being evaporated it is hard to keep pool warm. (Water absorbs lots of energy to evaporate, eg why sweating cools you off). Oh BTW we would lose maybe 1-2 inches a week with no cover now I add maybe an inch of water every few weeks at the most. Technically this thing should pay for itself in a year or two in water savings.Anyways this cover in particular has worked very well. I've not had many to compare it to but I see no downside to it. Its perhaps a bit heavier but not that big a deal IMO.
