A Good Buy!
Overall I have been very pleased with mine, but I must stress that I'm not a classical guitarist, I play mostly steel strung. However, on occasions a nylon string is needed. IMO these guitars are well built and offer great value for the money. The action on mine is 4mm on the 6th E and 3mm on the 1st E measured at the 12th fret, which is pretty much a standard set-up for this type of guitar. Having a too low action on classical guitars can produce a lot of problems. I did decide to upgrade the tuning pegs, but to be perfectly honest it was mainly for cosmetic reasons, I just didn't like the appearance of the carved style ones it came with. One bug bear for me was that the preamp EQ unit had not been screwed in straight and was at a slight angle. However, the sound it produced through my Marshall AS50R was very good. As this guitar was going to be used mainly for recording, I did however upgrade the preamp for a Fishman Presys Blend system, but this was only because of a recording preference and not a criticism of the original Fishman unit that was fitted - made sure it was put in straight though! The playability of this guitar is generally good, although barre chords past the 12th fret are a little on the hard side. The unplugged sound is good, I tried out a number of different makes of electro acoustic classical with cutaway in this price range and the MFAC came out tops IMO. I've no doubt that you could find a richer tone if you wanted to pay more, but the MFAC is a great buy for the money. Also, I love the finish on these guitars and the almost amber coloured Canadian Sitka top looks beautiful.
