I just quickly try this flattened on my hair before I washed it and I must say it did straighten my hair and looked shiny. I will do it again on a clean hair and post the results but I'm assuming it would be good. I gave a 4 stars because of safety. The 1 thing I would suggest to this company is to make the plate that heats up smaller than the outside part. As I was practicing how to position this flatener to flaten and then to curl my hair I burned my forehead badly. I have short hairs around my forehead I need to flatten and trying to avoid burning my forehead again I burned my ear. Is been 5 days and I'm still healing. This is very dangerous as this goes to 450degrees. For that reason I might returned it. I am afraid I will keep burning myself or I have to not flatten close to my head which is a no no for me. BUT it does straighten the hair and looks shinny.

This item is designed poorly, the temperature options are very hard to see, the water tank is complicated to add water and the advertisement states you can flat iron or curl however, the instructions state not to turn the iron as you flat iron it will cause frizz and lines so how are we to curl and flat iron? It took me long to finish flat ironing my hair trying to figure out which side to properly use since the instructions are poorly written. Sorry, not worth $40.-

It does steam but it pulls your hair out when you’re using it. You have to do little strands at a time took a long time to straighten my hair I am sending it back...
