Great book, very informative as all Lonely Planet books are. Very impressed with the supply of this book. I was on holiday in France / Switzerland staying in a rather remote area and ordered the guide over the Internet. It arrived safe and sound at the chalet a day later from Amazon Europe - Excellent service, very impressive.

Lonely Planet guides are always down to earth, I do find the eating guide caterers for for expensive tastes than mine.

Too small a book for the amount of subject matter.
Too much covered in a small book, not enough detail for particular sights needed to look elsewhere for more information.

A colourful and interesting guide
This 320-page book - the 2nd edition of July 2015 - is a colourful guide to the best bits of Switzerland, written by Lonely Planets’ experts for the country. This is a well-designed and presented guide, and although it is more of a ‘regular’ guide than the usual Lonely Planet volume, with lots of colour, bright maps, and large fonts, it is still a better-designed and laid out guide than most others that I have seen. It is still intended to be a meaningful guide to things to see and do, but now contains detailed lists of things to see and do and eat, but written by people who know where to go to find really interesting things to see, do and eat.It is broken down into four major sections:Page 4 - Plan Your Trip:This section is an introduction to Switzerland, with sections on what to look out for (“Switzerland’s Top Highlights”), things you need to know in advance, basic touristy stuff.Page 48 - Discover (“The Guide”; with each section featuring highlights, sights, tours/itineraries, etc.):P049: Geneva & the WestP091: Bern, Basel & the NorthwestP119: Bernese Oberland & Central SwitzerlandP161: Valais & ZermattP189: Zurich, Lake Constance & the NortheastP231: St Moritz, Graubunden & the SoutheastPage 265 - In Focus:This section contains articles on local culture - history, cuisine, family travel, sports, etc.Page 297 - Survival Guide:Directory, transport, etc.P312: Index
