a lovely little book.
we bought this girl version of the book for our baby who is 1yr & 4m old and she loves it. she always gets to the page it speaks of the body parts and bends down as the girl in the book does :) it explains where poo comes from.a lovely little book, perfect for potty talk :)I grew up on the original version and I remember the charming illustrations and simple writing that makes so much sense to a little person... the names & references are different so we have a different name to prudence, "poo poo" & "wee wee".we would highly recommend this book, and hopefully when the time is right it will be there to assist us during the potty training process...glad I remembered it existed.

Staightforward and down to earth
I bought this book for my Grandchild 2yrs. I love the illustrations, though some of the pictures are dated, they are nonetheless visually explanatory and honest. I love that Frankel wrote openly about our bodily functions, no beautification, no tabu, just straightforward down to earth information. I don't mind the North American English, the book is published in the US after all, and there is no problem to use words used in family or daycare instead of "diaper, wee wee" for example, one just translates to the words one uses while reading. The pictures will help my Grandchild understand the message, until the language get's internalized.

Lovely simple book to support potty training
I've used this book for potty training my two children between 2.5 and 3 years old, putting it into the turnover of their bedtime stories. It's a lovely book to discuss anatomy (I exchange American terminology for the equivalent we use at home), dirty nappies and nice clean nappies and what the children in the story (Prudence - girl / Joshua - boy) do when they get their first potty; that they have to practice and sit for a long time to get the hang of it, they have accidents, and then decide to use the potty every time. I like the way it is written, in first person from the point of view of the mother.

Not suitable for a small child. Rather old fashioned
I don’t think this book is appropriate for a two year old child. The mothers refers to herself in weird way which is confusing for an adult let alone a small child and the graphics of the childs anatomy in the book are quite disturbing. Plus potty is very old fashioned looking, nothing like a modern day potty.

I loved it but my little girl was not so keen
I really liked the book, it helped me to explain where the body fluids come out to my daughter who is 2.11 years old, and going to the potty when you feel wee wee or poo coming out. Some people would say that its graphic, its not its fact! My little girl thought wee comes out of taps and showers but the illustrations given helped me to explain where it comes form without being embarrassed. My daughter was not really keen on the book as it is in cartoon form, she would prefer to see real children sitting on a real potty so that she could relate more. Also my little girl is not really interesting in using the potty or toilet yet she just does not seem ready so will use it when she is a little more ready. NIce book, good way of explaining things, wish that it was a picture of a real girl on the potty though as my daughter would have preferred that but hey cannot please everyone.

Great book for potty training!
My LO has been obsessed with this book since we got it, I change some words around to make her feel related to it and its really helped her understand parts of her body and encouraged her to ask to sit on the potty! Very cute art style, love it

Very sweet book, hopefully inspirational!!!
I bought this book for my soon to be 3 yr old daughter, who is being fairly stubborn about potty training despite having a fancy musical potty and jazzy knickers etc etc...The reviews looked good and I must say I agree! The book is really enjoyable for both parent and child to read, there's no embarrassment or shame about weeing/pooing or the child's body and I think it is encouraging for little ones - mine wanted to use her potty after reading, just like Prudence (but alas, stayed on it for all of 30 secs then asked for a nappy......). You won't regret buying this book though!

Used for all four of my children
I have used both the boy and girl versions of this book for all four of my children and it has been brilliant every time:first daughter (now 8) - trained at 24 months (both day and night),son (now 6) - trained at 21 months (dry at night by 22months),and 2nd daughter (now 3.5) trained at 22 months (dry at night by 23 months)My youngest daughter is 16 months and already doing both wees and poos in the potty and asks me to read her this book each time she's sat on it. Of course, it helps that she has three siblings to watch and learn from but nonetheless, this book is her current favourite and it seems to really appeals to her. She just loves it!
