The handle broke after very little digging and on inspection seemed to have a fault line and I would like to buy a replacement handle but this doent seem to be an option.

Not as good as it looks.
This spade looks just the job for a youngster or an older person who can't manage a full size spade. There are two problems however. The first is that the spade head is welded to the socket and is quite heavy which defeats the object of buying a small spade somewhat. The second problem with the spade that I received was that the handle doesn't fit the socket properly and it wobbles in the socket about the rivet which holds it on. The supplier very kindly sent me a replacement immediately but I was amazed to find that the replacement had a loose handle just like the original. Poor manufacture and poor quality control. There is no indication on the label of where it's made but I can guess.I can drill out the rivet and refit the handle myself as I've fitted new handles to spades before but I shouldn't have to do this with a new spade. On reflection I wish I'd paid a few pounds more and bought a Spear and Jackson stainless steel childs spade which I could be sure was properly made. I wouldn't recommend this item.

The kids fight over it - say no more
After a few days of use, it appears to be strong and is easy for my 4 yr old and 6 yr old to use.The wood is not as polished as the adult versions, but at this price it is more than acceptable.

Apprentice Spade
A useful sized spade for working on your knees and in restricted space. It complements my apprentice fork. A well made item.

poor workmanship
not happy with this item, the shaft not fitted properly to the spade and is loose, and its rusty, also the finnish needs to be smooth on the handle so you don't get splinters and its not.
