... Surface RT tablet (a version 1 unit) has been like a crap shoot using weighted dice
The effort to procure a simple charger for my Microsoft Surface RT tablet (a version 1 unit) has been like a crap shoot using weighted dice. The chance that you're going to get something that just works and keeps working is in my experience very poor.I bought my awesome Surface RT as soon as the first one's shipped and it's become an essential part of my life, so when the original charger's cable gave out, I went to Amazon to find a replacement. Now, several months later, I've been through four chargers, some of which have been non-functional out of the box, and in one particularly annoying case, worked for about a month before inexplicably giving up the ghost. The Patuoxun charger shipped and arrived promptly and worked out of the box, so it has that going for it. As a result of that happy circumstance I'm giving it three stars for meeting my minimum expectations; I'll add more stars if it lasts longer than the month held by the current record holder.I'm sorry to say that these offshore manufacturers have a long way to go before the goods they produce cease to be synonymous with "cheap crap." And by cheap crap, I'm not referring to the price of the item. It doesn't seem to matter how much one pays for a product to experience Cheap Crap Syndrome. Let's hope Patuoxun is a happy exception to this seemingly inviolable rule.

SLOW charging
Pro: at least it works.Con: SLOW. So slow at charging, in fact, that if I am using my computer while it is plugged in, I am still draining my battery. If my battery is dead, I have to plug it in without using it, and I have to go at least an hour without access to my computer. Not good if you are in a tight situation (like if you have a presentation in 5 min and you are at 3% battery-- better hope you can borrow someone else's computer...).EDIT: Customer service contacted me, telling me they had already shipped a replacement for me asking me to reevaluate their product. Upon reevaluation it appears that my charging was slow because I was using a Surface Pro while this charger is really meant for the RT only. So... I'll change my rating to give this product 4 stars for the customer service. 4 because my wires are already starting to fray from the additional wear-and-tear of using this with a Surface Pro, but as I said the customer service is very good and will give you a replacement if you experience the same problem.

Works great. Doesn't have the little light that the Microsoft unit has when its recharging but at this price who cares. I had to replace 2 units from Microsoft because the wires frayed at the magnetic clip. This unit seems to have a more robust rubber casing. I am quite happy with this unit. I bought their car recharger unit also which works great and I got both for less than the Microsoft unit. Can't go wrong there. An update to my purchase. Microsoft was clever in designing this piece of crap magnetic catch they use. This unit just broke like my other three I purchased. I am buying another one since it was cheaper than Microsofts. I have lowered this to three stars.

No longer a Fail!
Update: Wow. The folks over at Patozan took my comments to heart and responded immediately to my comment! Not only did they contact me afterwards, but without even my request they sent me a new one! I have tested it out for a week so far and it works well, no where near the issues I had with the original. That is great customer service. They stand out in my mind as the model for others to follow. Thank you Patozan!Original:Unfortunately this item is defective. Bought it as an extra charger. - It overheats to the point that you can't even touch it! Next, it takes an extremely long time to charge. Next, when you plug it in and the Surface is on, the screen winks on and off. Very disappointed. If Patuoxun could explain why and replace it I would be glad to update this review.

Works Well - Wish There Was a Light
Dog chewed up my real power adapter from Microsoft and so I started my search for a new one. I read quite a few reviews and decided to take my chances on this one. The product works great, like it should charging in about the same time as the original. If I had one complaint, that would be that it doesn't have the light on the end of the adapter to show when it is actually charging. Not a big deal, but I did enjoy that feature on the original.

Good deal for a working generic charger
For a generic charger, it's pretty good. You do need to push the plug into your Surface device to help it catch a connection sometimes. (The magnet doesn't always catch the plug as effortlessly as the original charger did) Also, there is no little pin light on the connector to indicate the device is charging, so just keep an eye on the charge icon on the screen. Overall, it's a good alternative to the way more expensive Microsoft charger.

May Charge faster than Microsoft original
The Patozon company is very attentive to customer satisfaction as I have had dialogue with them. This unit is a little bigger than the Microsoft original with a slightly shorter cord. However you just can't beat the price! Also, I am fairly sure it charges my Surface Pad to full faster than the original. There is no charging led indicator but you can easily see the battery charging symbol on your Surface by tapping the power button once. A good bargain.

Product has no problem charging my Surface Pro 2
Product has no problem charging my Surface Pro 2, it has the same magnetic connector that clings to the Pro's power port. Only reason I gave it a 4 is because it does not have a charging light like the stock power adapter from Microsoft, then again product is only 12-3 dollars and so far, it's doing a good job charging/powering my Surface Pro2.
