Doesn't work well
The size and design is really nice and it was delivered very quickly but when I put any dvd in it, it skips and jumps even if the cd isnt scratched ( have tested with several disks) and ruins any movie / tv show I'm trying to watch. It also doesn’t register with my laptop unless I’ve turned it on and off multiple times.Possibly one of the worst things I’ve boight on Amazon

Does the job, out of the box
I bought this for a totally blind friend, whose internal drive on her laptop had failed. It had to work with just a single USB socket - to minimise the number of leads. It also had to work with a full range of dye-based "home written" discs, in addition to commercially made ones.This one ticked all the boxes - easy to use and haven't found anything that it won't work with, yet.

Simply Doesn't Work
There's nothing more frustrating than buying something that literally has one purpose and can't manage from the start.It can't play a single disc I put inside it. If I'm lucky, it might start playing it, but it then crashes and dies within the first ten minutes, and then causes my laptop to go into meltdown. That's if it even plays the thing in the first place.I've tried multiple discs, multiple USB ports and even multiple laptops/computers, and it's never worked. Either every single one of my discs are scratched and both my computers are broken, or this DVD player is a con.This is money I will never get back. Just don't buy it.

the build quality is good for the price paid
Comes well packed.Quality: the build quality is good for the price paid.Performance: initial tests are good, with the good read and write speeds (on DVD, with single 1 GB file).feature: the USB cable can be easily hidden underneath the player which is a cool feature.3 stars as the delivery was delayed by 3 days

External programme needed for newer films - Windows 10
As a DVD player, the product works great, however it insists on installing its own software to play DVDs which cannot handle the high quality of pretty much any post-2000 film I put in there, so I instead have to open the disc file through an external piece of software to make it play - basically it still works as a DVD player, but, without an external programme, it won’t be able to play a DVD unless it has a resolution of a potato that it’s ancient software can play. Noise is relatively low and bar a small amount of buffering after pausing and playing it works fine.

Works but is very noisy
This works fine on my HP Stream laptop, i had to download an app from the microsoft store to get this to work but it plays dvds fine. The problem is its just so noisy! It sounds like a train chugging along next to my laptop!If you can get passed the annoying noise this thing makes - this is the product for you

Simple design and easy to use
I really like the design of the product. It is very lightweight. I was happy to find this product as my MacBook does not have a CD or DVD entrance. This is definitely a great solution for the owners of MacBook Air. Also if you look at the back of the product it can be easily put together and does not take much space.

not fit for any purpose
Buy dirt cheap get dirt, I had the idea of digitising my cd collection and on a whim purchased this external drive. My laptops have been drive less for years now so this cheap drive with good reviews seemed ideal for what I intended.The drive is so poorly manufactured and I doubt any qc has been done on this item the drive bay fell apart on first use.PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PRODUCT its just not worth your time just buy a quality product instead.
