Not Good
I love chocolate covered espresso beans, and I usually like shortbread cookies, so I had high hopes when I ordered these for my boyfriend as a Valentine's Day gift - he also LOVES chocolate and espresso, and loves to eat coffee chocolate. These are just gross to both of us. You could achieve the same flavor and texture effect by chewing a mouth full of dry espresso beans with some dry flour and a chocolate chip thrown in. First of all, the shortbread is just yucky, and to me seems nothing like the cookie in the description - it completely lacks a fluffy, buttery texture or flavor, and it is not sweet at all, no vanilla flavor either. Did we get an old batch maybe? The shortbread is more like what I imagine a dog biscuit must taste like, just really dry and boring and flavorless. The chocolate and espresso are not well balanced. There is way too much espresso bean, and that is all you taste here, supplemented with a little flavorless shortbread. The one thing I like is the chocolate dip, which doesn't seem like there is enough to balance the espresso (keep in mind, I do like chocolate covered espresso beans) - it is good-tasting chocolate, if a bit mild and waxy in texture. Disappointing because the price for 8 of these cookies is fairly expensive.

addictive BUT super expensive
The first time I opened the box I was shocked. There was only 8 pieces inside which made $2 per piece! To be honest I didn't like it at first bite. I thought the coffee grain was a bit too strong and the texture was too rough so I just left it on my desk for a few days. But then I started craving something sweet and nothing was around so I took another piece and amazingly, this time, I got hook. I realized that the first time I had it, the thing was "half frozen" during transit since it was snowy in my city, but if you left it melt a bit, the chocolate will blend into the cookies and the coffee will be a lot softer. Too bad it's too expensive.

Ridiculously Yummy!
I ordered the "Ridiculous Biscotti" and then saw that there was also a "Ridiculous Shortbread Cookie," so I ordered it as well! This cookie combines my two favorite treats; chocolate and shortbread cookies. The dark Belgian chocolate is so tasty and really makes it hard not to have more than one cookie. It is definitely a "chocolaty" cookie, but not overdone or obnoxiously sweet. I think the addition of crushed espresso beans makes this cookie stand apart from other gourmet cookies you find in the stores and adds another great flavor dimension. They come packaged well and weren't broken like a lot of the store bought cookies, so if your family doesn't eat them all right away, they should last for a while. They would really make nice gifts and show someone you have great taste in cookies!

So so
I've had much better shortbread cookies. These did not have that buttery flavor shortbread cookies should have and the chocolate had that waxy, cheap chocolate taste. They were speady for the amount you get. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

THE Best Shortbread Cookie EVER!
This will become a staple "default" item for people I want to remember over the holidays, but don't know well enough to select a personal item for them. These cookies are DIVINE. I sent them to three couples at Christmas. They ALL loved them! So unique, so elegant, so delicious. I offered to bring more of them next time I go East and then teased "if I don't eat them myself on the plane". The response was: Don't you DARE eat them! This is a winner! Order with confidence.

Expectations not met
The cookies were soft...not like shortbread...and the coffee beans left me with the desire to spit them out. It felt like I was eating ground rocks. Nothing I would order again and I threw the rest away. Expensive experiment.

Very disappointed! I guess it's only natural to expect something special for this price. There is nothing special about these cookies. They taste like ones from the grocery store for $3.99. The shortbread is not at all rich; no butter flavor, kind of dry. In my opinion the espresso beans and chocolate make it kind of junkie. If you really like shortbread, don't buy these.
