Physics, Vol 1, 5ed Paperback – 1 January 2007

I didn't read this edition but read an earlier edition thirty years back. This book is probably the best way to learn physics. The book is comprehensive, illustrates the concepts clearly and effectively and doesn't take up too many pages. The physics that you learn in this book will be remembered for a long time. One has to answer all the questions and solve the problems without help from the solution manual but only the answers, for learning to be effective. The expanded edition introduces concepts like relativity, thermodynamics etc. earlier on which I think is a good idea. I purchased this book for my nephew and with just a glance he said he finds it useful.

This book is awesome but only when you have read/completed HC VERMA and JEE MAINS qustions because the questions in this book are very time and mind consuming. So, if you are a physics lover (lover here doesn't means you have a keen interest but it means you have a huge knowledge about physics ) than only buy this book otherwise " IT'S NOT YOUR CUP OF TEA. "

[I have uploaded the one-dimensional kinematics theory part so that you can see for yourself, and also the final questions from that chapter and the contents of the book]For some reason, this book is not very popular in contrast to another book you probably know by now, ie, Resnick Halliday WALKER. This is very surprising to me, since Walker is a very well explained but definitely shallow book (and the questions are even worse). But, this book has an almost equally easily understandable language, but the concepts covered are way wider than those in Walker and sufficiently cover pretty much all topics in the JEE syllabus. This is not to mention the quality of its questions. The subjective ones are crucial in developing your understanding of the chapter, and the general problems are of a pretty good level.But, at the same time, the questions are quite time consuming, and the theory might be difficult to comprehend for beginners without any base in Physics (HCV is better in that respect)If you ask me, I think it is plenty useful for JEE preparation and could easily work as your core book. Even then I would still recommend you to use HCV though, as the questions in that are very unique and conceptual, and you won't find them anywhere else. Plus, some of the basic stuff is better explained in HCV. (don't overestimate this book's difficulty in theory even though it might have seemed so from what I said; I think one can easily get into it just remember you don't have to solve each and every question if you have limited time)

Best book go for it if you are true physics lover

The media could not be loaded. I liked the book I buyed it from Sri book world they delivered the book with very premium packaging and the book is brand new , some people tell that it is an Xerox but really it is an orignal print book . And finally it's an very faboulous interesting PHYSICS BOOK..

I used this book as secondary school student and believed that this was definitely among the best books I ever read. I recently purchased this along with the solution guide for my son. I was very confused by all the different versions of the book available and despite all the research, ended up buying the wrong solution guide. The books were delivered in perfect condition quite speedily. I wanted to return the solution guide as it was for a different version. Amazon was gracious to take back the book with full refund, no questions asked. The solution guide was itself for only Rs 225 or so. But for me it means that I can shop with confidence with Amazon.

If you want to enjoy the essence of physics, this is for you!

Perhaps the book was stored in a damp place and it caused itching and allergy when touched. It took several days to disinfect it.

Very comprehensive and in depth content. Would definitely recommend.
