1 Gallon Home Brewing Homebrew Recipe Kit, Bruges Belgian Witbier, 5.0%

Let me preface this review with this: As a winemaker getting into beer brewing, I know a thing or 2 about fermentation and sanitation.So, I started and followed the directions to a T. My batch ended up with about half a gallon of beer. The half gallon of water that you boil the grain in is absorbed immediately and the grains actually ended up burning to the bottom of the pot. It was basically just hydrating the grains, not creating a "stew".Final wort in my fermenter is about half a gallon, not a full gallon. Of that half gallon, probably half of the liquid is sediment/hops. So, I may get about 2 or 3 bottles from this batch. not good.Finally, the final nail in the coffin, the yeast never activated. This leaves me with an unfermenting sludgey wort sitting on my counter. I am hoping another kit comes today and I can split the least between the two, but after sitting for a few days, I doubt it is any good anymore.The kit had everything it said it would. The grains looked nice, my apartment smelled like a brewery, and it had 2 different hops. They are packaged for 5 gallon kits, so you do have to measure out about 1/5th of them. The grains are packaged for the 1 gallon kit.UPDATE: The company got in contact with me. They are actually very helpful, and gave me tips on how to brew their kit better. I do wish that they included these tips in their instructions (like turning the heat off during the mash so that you don't evaporate all the water, etc). But they seem very friendly, knowledgeable, and nice. I will try them again. My kit, 4 days in, grew mold as the yeast never activated.So, keep an extra packet of yeast around, add more water to the mash, and turn the stove off during mash, and then keep an extra cheese cloth laying around to filter out some of the sediment/hops when pouring over (or use an auto syphon).

I changed to 5 stars because they sent me a free brewers kit w/o even me asking or them asking, thank you.. First time buying this brand. I could tell it must have been made in China or something. The instructions were so weird and backwards. 1.) It came with instruction booklet. Halfway through I couldn't tell if I brewed it backwards and over cooked. I look on the box, I look online, the videos were way off. Bad experience just because the instructions. I think it came w/ a different booklet. According to the booklet I was missing 2 ingredients and something else. Had to spend an hour online trying to find a video that mathed breweing a somewhat complex flavor. I would love to try again with 1 set of clear instructions w/o wasting hrs looking up what I was missing. I hope they can send me another batch, and I can come back and more than likely give it 5 stars if the instructions and all utensils and ingredients matched up w/ the letters in booklet. Maybe the kit was missing an ingredient or 2. I just worked with what they sent me. Wording of the booklet needs to be in better English, and step by step, not flipping back from page to page adding ingredients at wrong times and not knowing if it was the right ingredient. Read the instructions, watch a zillion videos on brewing, finally bought a 5 gallon brew kit.. but I bought this kit as a introduction to the process.. my thought better to screw up a gallon vs 5.. I had questions at first and Michael answered all of them via emails within hours.. great support and very professional.. I will definitely do more 1 gallon brews to sharpen my skills and this will be the company where I buy em from..

Mediorce customer service. Owner acts like he really cares for and appreciates all his customers. Somehow the instructions got missing and he mailed.me out new instructions. This is a great kit to use after you already have done one or two brews and have a little knowledge of the hobbyHowever when I bottled the beer and went to drink it the priming sugar he included in the kit was garbage and the beer didn't carbonate and all the owner told me to was recarbonate really I spend this kind of money on your kit and your priming sugar caused the product to turn out bad and you won't offer me some type of replacement product and tell me that I have to reopen and rebottle the beer after using more priming sugar. I guess the owner must like FLAT beer. In the end though I gave him a 3 instead of a 1 because he refunded my money. Now what do with the flat beer.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend and he thoroughly enjoyed the beer-making process for this kit. He is currently enjoying the beer it has produced as well. I plan to purchase more by this company in the future. Thanks for selling on Amazon!
