Use it if you must. Avoid it if you can.
1. My financial institution recognizes Quicken as its only compatible banking software so I had to choose between using Quicken or having no usable software for online banking. I chose Quicken.2. As others have noted, Quicken now charges a yearly fee. In the past, you bought it and you could use it indefinitely at no extra cost.3. Installation is a nightmare. 2 hours on the phone with bank help number then 3 hours on the phone with Quicken help. The account setup process is confusing. (Hint: Do you want to add an account to sync electronically? Don't use "add". Instead use “link” or you will have duplicate accounts appearing in the register, which you then have to manually delete.) The deletion process for accounts is finicky. (See #4 below for a separate deletion issue regarding *transactions*). You have to set up a separate username and password combination for the Direct Connection, which was clunky after it was established. The program crashed a few times during installation. Several times I had to restart my computer to start Quicken after exiting from the program. I later had problems with file corruption (that had to be fixed by Quicken help), at least part of which could have been caused the program suddenly crashing during installation.4. Glitches can remain after the program is installed. Apparently, if you’re upgrading to 2019 from certain earlier versions, there’s a transaction ID glitch that can occur depending on your version and on your bank’s transaction ID protocol. It sounds technical but the upshot is that once Quicken is installed, you may end up with one or more duplicated transactions and your online balance won't match. To correct the glitch you have to search manually for duplicate transactions (not a lot of fun) then carefully delete one of the duplicates, making sure you delete the right transaction. This is a known issue with Quicken. I've used Quicken for years and had over 6,000 transactions to check. Very tedious. I'm in my first week of completing the migration to the 2019 version and I'm still not quite there.5. I'd go back to my 2014 version if I could but Quicken 2019 uninstalled the 2014 version. Devilishly clever, Quicken Inc.6. One week after installation and I often get a message after I close Quicken and attempt to restart it that a copy of Quicken is running and I have to restart my computer. I have typically have 5 or more programs running simultaneously. I really don't relish having to restart the computer, open the programs and reconstruct where I was before Quicken didn't close successfully.7. The moral of the story: use Quicken if you must. Avoid it if you can.Update: 24 & 25 February. The Quicken program tells me my bank password is incorrect. It is not. I try to connect via Quicken a few times but I cannot. I cannot change the Quicken-linked Direct Connect password, probably because the bank shut the link down after 3 unsuccessful attempts to connect.. I now cannot connect to my bank via Quicken. It's a Sunday. I'll have to wait until Monday to try to straighten this out. Just to mention, I am not a computer neophyte. On Monday another 3 hours on the phone, finally managing to coordinate the Quicken specialist with the bank specialist on a conference call. The program seems to be working (though some odd transactions were introduced/deleted so I'm now again having to go through my entire account (again!) to reconcile discrepancies. The Quicken specialist was courteous, patient and helpful. BUT I was told that if I had to call Quicken again to resolve a problem I would be charged! Or, I could enroll for a subscription help program for $300 for 2 (might have been 3) years. Unbelievable. The whole point of this software was to make my banking easier. It was much easier when I just used Quicken as a stand-alone software package, not connected to my bank. If I have another problem I will not pay for product support and will return to using Quicken 2019 as a stand-along package ... which was the state of the art - in the late 1990s - when I first started using Quicken. And of course now I'll have to pay for renewals of my subscription indefinitely, which I didn't have to do before going from Quicken 2014 to 2019 with Direct Connection with my bank. You'll have to decide whether the new, "improved" technology is something that will benefit you and how much more you're willing to spend if you encounter the kinds of problems I have.

Bad Product + Bad Support
I got it downloaded and installed just fine, finding the code was no issue. When it downloaded my first account it doubled the value of it. When I download my loan information it always shows the original balance. Quicken support rep says its everyone else's fault. What a real winner. If you want to do everything manually this may be a fine product but if you want to connect to different online financial institutions its really buggy. I thought it would have improved in the 10 years since I last tried. Oh well. Wish I could return it.

Do not buy the digital download.
Do not buy the digital download!! Amazon downloader is buggy. I wasted time trying to install. Received continuous error messages related to my firewall. My firewall is turned off. The chat assistance was useless, told me there is no digital refund and gave me no support. Go to Costco and buy for five bucks cheaper.

BEWARE! Quicken Bill Pay service no longer functional in this version...
BEWARE! If you use Quicken Bill Pay you will no longer be able to use this service with this version if Quicken. I have tried to get it working for over two months...customer service for both Quicken and Quicken Bill Pay is absolutely worthless, and have started just ignoring my pleas for help. Save your money and your time; find another solution.

DO NOT BUY
I have used Quicken for years and am quite happy with the program. However, there is a "bug" in the Amazon Games & Software Downloader which has prevented me from downloading the program. I have spent HOURS trying to download the program without any success. I get an error message suggesting I turn off my firewall, but that doesn't help. Don't waste your money! Buy the program either directly from Quicken or in a brick and mortar store.

Waste of money
Every time you start it up, it has to connect to the internet or it won't start, and anyway, after a week it forgets you registered it and in order to re-register it, besides a lot of time required, you have to provide Quicken with a lot of personal information.

Windows 10 Install Did Not Work Without Support
I broke down and bought a 1 year subscription after getting notice that my Quicken 2016 Premier would no longer be supported and would have online access cut off in April. This eventuality has seriously ticked me off, but that's another story. I paid for the download and got an email from Amazon with a link to the Quicken download website and an activation code. I did the download and ran the install and it failed. Said my machine did not meet minimum requirments, which was laughable. It's a two year old i7 machine with Windows 10 Pro, 3 TB of disk space, and 16 GB of RAM. I engaged with Quicken tech support and they had me run a program to clean the old version off and required a bunch of manual folder renames, apparently so as to not lose my data, but none of this worked. I re-engaged with tech support and they had me go in and modify the properties of the install file. It was defaulted to install with Windows XP compatibility!! Apparently the download defaults to compatibility that is not compatible with the download! Turning off compatibility allowed the file to install properly without error. The new version found my old data file and fired right up. I've been using it for a couple of hours now without issue. I'll updated if anything goes south.
