M.2 Cooling Guide - NGFF/NVme Adaptor + x2 40mm Maplin Fans
This adaptor allows you to connect your M.2 (Mkey in my case) to the PCIe slot (whatever one the GPU is not pugged into) on the motherboard and access upto 6Gb's of data transfer speeds (10Gb's is the ceiling as far as I am aware off - but limited to certain motherboards and not sure if its supported as yet).I had a similar adaptor (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01ABSKEH4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it worked fine, but did not come anything to dissipate heat. However, I did manage to purchase two small 40mm System fans and connect those up inside the case and used the included 3M sticky backed velcro to attach them directly on top the M.2 drive. I also used three copper heatsinks which were also attached to the top of the M.2 memory modules. Unfortunately the velcro (under 40-50c heat) detached and they hung idley inside the case not doing much.So i decided to look at the options for cooling M.2 SSD's, there is a water cooled adaptor but thats in the range of about £60. Its a good solution but just too costly. Considering the temperatures I was getting from heatsink and fan assisted cooling was around 20c (perfect) - I opted to stick with this cheaper option. So I came across this adaptor and it seems they have thought about the cooling in respect to the PCB, it has sections cut out to allow heat to escape through the front and back. I thought I could use the 40mm fans and this time attach them to the back of the card. I have just recieved this adaptor and will edit this review with some photos once all installed. The two fans I purchased (£4.99) : *Maplins 40mm 4000 RPM fans (4.99) - Link not supported on Amazon*The whole idea behind all of this is to reduce the possibility of the M.2 drive throttling down. This effects the performance - granted it is there to prevent the card malfunctioning its probably also rare you would hit this scenario for the throttle-down to kick in. Anyhow, its always good practice to have everything running as cool as possible.I hope this review/guide has helped you as I was stuck trying to figure out a reasonable cooling method.

Exactly as described. Super fast. I purchased the one with the heatsink and it fitted perfectly. The heatsink is necessary as the Samsung SSD I used becomes very hot during use.
