This book has changed my life. I am 67, with Lupus, Sjogrens Syndrome and bla bla bla.I was diagnosed with Bipolar several years ago. I didn’t understand the diagnosis and I wasn’t about to add more medicine to my routine. I have had some major ups and downs in those years. Still never quite believing I was bipolar.And here arrives to my doorstep the answers to so many of my questions. Years of questions. I was a hypnotherapist...I love self help. Dr. Aiken YOU ARE my knight in shining armor. This book is my new FAVORITE. My new favorite!! The way Dr. Aiken has organized the book is perfect. It is not ‘over your head Medical-Speak. And it is NOT full of fluffy unnecessary information.’This book is INVITING. This book is full of USEFUL, PRACTICAL INFORMATION that anyone who has ever received a diagnosis of Bi-Polar should read. Infact, I think it is a must read.Quite frankly, it has taken my fears away that I am unable to cope with this disease. It is helping me get organized. It is helping me to calm down. It is helping be to be AWARE of my mood swings and to grab them before they go full speed ahead.As anyone with this mental disorder already knows...the darned thing is NEVER going to go away. Excellent, practical guide with immediate strategies for treating depression & bipolar symptoms. Organization & layout of workbook is easy to follow for professionals and/or those that have a mental health diagnosis. Dr. Aiken’s writing is direct, concise & clear. His philosophy is that mental health is treatable & he expects his patients to have a full recovery. This guide lays a path to increased stability & honing insight, both keys to preventing major episodes. Highly recommend.

Fantastic resource, professionally and personally
As someone who works in the mental health field and manages my own mood disorder, I've found this workbook to be a thorough guide to help others help themselves. There's tons of information - supported by the literature, with references - from a clinical standpoint, along with common sense suggestions. The layout of the book (with "Client Worksheets" and "Client Handouts") make it a go-to resource so patients can implement these measures at home. Dr Aiken is a beacon of light in the world of psychiatry, suggesting natural, nonpharmacological measures to improve the lives of patients. Thank you for this book!

Well written.
I really like the workbook. It makes you think and act on your depression/bipolar. Dr Aiken is a well known psychiatrist in North Carolina who not only treats the mind but the body too. If you are depressed or Bipolar or BOTH. This is a excellent resource.

Extremely helpful without being ultra acedemic.
Very thorough and uptodate. As a bipolar I I found the information added considerably to my ongoing search both for current treatment modalities and my own long-standing experiences
