Good for Tall People
I'm a tall guy. Standard office gas lift chairs are too low. Now when I shop for a new office chair, I factor in the cost of this product because I won't be using the short gas lift that comes with the chair.

Makes my Aeron a usable height, installation can be tricky if you have an old chair
This is a good cylinder and I love the height it adds. I viewed the installation instructions and watched some videos, but I did not have an easy time installing it because my chair was old, grimey and dusty. (The label on bottom said 2003)Tips if your chair is old like mine.1. To get the existing cylinder out of the chair, you may need to whack it HARD. I used a 5lb sledge and a block of 2x4. Even then, it took SEVERAL hard whacks, putting all sorts of dents in the wood block.2. Use an adjustable pipe wrench to unscrew the cylinder. The teeth on mine were leaving marks on old cylinder and it wouldn't budge. I eventually applied WD-40 at the top and that loosened it up enough to come off. There was a bunch of rust inside.3. Once you install the new cylinder, you will have to pop off the plastic cover under the chair and adjust the set screw so it doesn't sag. After I did this, it worked perfectly.

It's too tall for a regular desk chair.
If you want to take a regular desk-height chair and turn it into a counter-height chair then its perfect but it is too tall for a desk-height chair. I was hoping that I could use it all the way down for sitting at my desk, then raise it up when I raised my desk, but it is too tall when all the way down. My feet don't touch the floor. I am 5' 11" so I am not used to my feet not touching the floor when I am seated.Removing the old one was a chore. I put some anti-seize into the base and mechanism when I installed the new one so that the next time it won't be so hard. I expect that the cylinders are the most likely thing to break on a modern office chair so I figure I'll replace the cylinder every few years.I ordered another one that is a little smaller and think I will return this one when it arrives tomorrow. I might use it on a padded shop stool that I have which would be better if it had a longer stroke cylinder but we'll see.

Expect to return it as soon as you get it or in 3 months out of 30 day return policy !!
I think this is my 5th or 6th gas strut from different suppliers and 3rd from same supplier. All havent lasted more than a month. last couple have been dead on arrival. Why is it so hard to make a reliable gas strut ? I feel these companies are a scam at best.

Updated review: May need to adjust your chair's adjustment lever tolerance
Updated review: I ordered a replacement from another brand. Upon installation, I noticed the exact same issue: When sitting down, the seat would slowly drop. It occurred to me that the button on the top of the cylinder that activates the height adjustment was ever so slightly depressed. The cylinder had gone into a Herman Miller Classic Aeron chair, which is cable driven and has a lever that activates the push button on the cylinder. The lever has an adjustment screw which needed to be backed out slightly. Once I adjusted the screw in combination with the new cylinder, it worked perfectly. Apologies for blaming this on the product. I'm sure if I had adjusted this screw properly, this cylinder would have worked just fine as well.Original review: Noticed today, 52 days after I purchased it, that the chair no longer stays at the set height when sitting down. I bought this for two reasons: the extra-long height, and the additional weight capacity. I'm 6'5" and 300lbs, so I need both to sit without hip and knee joint pain. I expected the 450lb capacity would be plenty, but here I am, sitting low once again, with knee and hip pain. Can't return since it's past the 30 day return window. I feel scammed.
