You've Spent More for Less. Fun Gun!
I didn't expect much given what I had paid for it. But it's a Crosman, and it has Crosman quality. More "plastified" than I'm used to in an Air Rifle, but it's been a while since I've bought one. It's kind of neat pneumatic, actually feels a lot like my AR's in my hand. I was actually surprised about that. The sights overall are kind of ugly, but they work. Really well actually. Again, another surprise. And if you're used to sighting in an AR, it's no problem. I did two 5 shot groups, had it hitting bullseye by the third 5 round clip. It shoots very consistent, nice tight groups. The "faux" magazine will store two extra clips and the front sight tool. Added bonus! The adjustable stock works like it's supposed to and you can remove the whole assembly with the push of a button and turn it into an "AR Pistol". Also kind of cool. I will say though, don't put a lot of "downward force" on that stock. It's kind of flimsy and you'll have a permanent pistol if you do. I put an old paintball adjustable stock I had laying around on it; it's a little loose (jiggles a little) but it gave me an extra inch in length and is a bit better made than the one it comes with. But the stock one is just fine. The 5 shot clips are kind of handy, buy some extras. They're inexpensive. But they are directional. Which Crosman doesn't address, or how to put them in. There is a thin pad to grip the clip, it goes to the right. You'll notice a ridge on the clip, it points forward and should be at the top. It will accept even the Poly Tipped pellets without problem. Once you put the clip in (from the right side), push it in gently and you will feel it lock. After that, do it each shot. If you want to remove the clip, push it all the way through (right to left).Bonus? Also shoots BB's. Has a reservoir you can fill up (200 I think) and you can switch back and forth between BB's, or pellets, at your leisure. But you need to use a clip to help keep them on the magnetic tip and send them home. All in all, it's a good purchase. And seriously, you'll be amazed at how "AR" it actually feels, even when you shoulder it. It readily accepts "Mil-Spec" attachments on those rails. Yep. That's right. However, you're kind of limited on what you can put on the lower rails toward the front. It can interfere with pumping it up. So I had to ditch the old Bi-Pod. Which would have been cool for practicing in the prone position or from the bench. I put a $100 "AR Scope" on it (that turned out to not be satisfactory for the real thing) so it should be good to go for little furry terrorists invading your yard. Or some plinking fun. You'll definitely get your money out of it!

Don't judge it by it's looks! It's a legit, very well designed and versitile bb & pellet gun!
This was my next purchase after returning a Daisy 880 (which had serious accuracy problems). What I originally wanted was an adult version of the Daisy Red Ryder, which no one makes.I wanted single lever action, but over 400 fps and NO CO2. I HATE loading bb's and especially pellets, so I wanted something simple and easy. A single shot break barrel was out of the question for me.I own a real M4, so the idea to fulfill a training need to replace the M4 with a multi-pump gun seemed like a joke to me.But as a bb pellet gun, don't dismiss this gun based on it's looks. This is a really well designed gun.The horizontal sliding pellet clip is pure genius as is the bb holder & resivour design and the fact that it holds the sight adjustment tool and two spare clips in the fake magazine. All of this is awesome. The bb's and pellets are super-easy to load, so if you are like me, you will love this gun.So, let's get to the elephant in the room...... it's a multi-pump air gun, which means at least twice as much work as the Red Ryder. However, I took a 2x2 piece of redwood and did a penetration test. 1 of 4 stuck into the wood with the Red Ryder. 3 of 4 stuck into the wood with only 2 pumps with the Crosman M4-177. So, for indoor plinking or targets, 2 pumps will do andwill in fact be more powerful than the Red Ryder. I did not test 2 pumps with the pellets, since I didn't want to risk a jam. With 10 pumps; The Daisy 880 sank a bb 5/16" into the wood, where the M4-177 was 3/8".HOWEVER.... the 880 was very, very easy to pump, where the M4-177 is not and after 2 pumps, i find myself putting my right hand right next to rear sight, so forget a scope.Of couse, as you would imagine, the M4-177 totally and completely feels like a toy in my hands compared to the real thing, so no surprise there. It's a lot of platic. The sights took a bit of getting used to, so plan on spending some time to understand the sights and follow the included cheat-sheet that is provided, which is really helpfull. To be improved;1. Would be really cool if the charging handled worked to pull back the bolt. The tiny, one fingered lever wears on your pinky under heavy, fast use if you are not used to it.2. Crosman desperately needs to remove the additional thing extruding from the pump handle. Not sure what that is for but it is annoying and would be much more comfortable without it.3. A break barrel version of this same gun with the same bolt and pellet clip functions would be amazing.4. A little more weight would be nice.UPDATE:Also recently purchased a Crosman DSBR SBR and I find myself reaching for this M4-177 far more often than the DRBR.The DSBR is much more realistic in every way. I am not much of a fan of full auto, but i do like the blowback and the semi-auto. The DSBR actually is a decent training tool for a .223 M4. But since it is CO2, you really shouldn't leave a charged cylinder in it.All that being said, i really love the M4-177. Much as I still love the Red Ryder.I love not having to use CO2 and having the M4-177 always ready to shoot, and not having to shoot it until the CO2 runs dry.It is also w a y quieter than the DSBR, so i can shoot it at night in my garage without disturbing anyone, even if it is just for 2 minutes, when I have a free moment. It's simple, it's accurate, it feels good, it's always ready to shoot, it shoots bb's or pellets, and it's powerful when you need it to be.If you will only own one air gun, this is it.I am very tempted to buy another one or two to just leave in the box in case this one ever dies.

Good shooter!!
Nice air rifle. Accurate with pellets but also BBs. Put a red dot on it and grandson is having a blast. Shot around 1500 BBs already

Fun & Accurate
I love this thing but have one complaint. The front “iron sights” it came with were screwed on too tight so I could not adjust elevation, thus stripping the plastic tool. I tried with a ratchet and it stripped the plastic adjuster. I had plans to get optics either way but I was frustrated I couldn’t use the factory sights. As pictured I added a reflex sight & a bi-pod and after zeroing, I must say this thing is accurate! I’ve only used BB’s so far and have shot about 100 dialing in my setup. Most backyard fun I’ve had in a while. 3 pumps is good for 25ft but with 10 pumps (maximum recommended) for 30+ft you can definitely feel, hear, and see the velocity difference as well as the bump in accuracy. Even with all the plastic, the price range and what you get is a pretty good deal. It looks amazing and the pistol grip feels great. Get it! You won’t be disappointed.
