Great daylight lamp, ideal for craft work
This is a well made lamp and requires minimal assembly. It produces 5K light which is almost natural daylight (6K). My wife uses it largely for crochet work whilst watching TV and she had difficulty seeing her work just using a table lamp. The twin heads give off a great light minimising shadows and being a standard lamp sits behind the settee.Very happy with the results and easy touch control to switch on and vary the brightness. Great price and quick delivery.

Good quality light and lens, works very well.
Seems reasonably sturdy, and well built. I bought it for electronics work at home.Light is bright, better than my 12V halogen desk lamp for illuminating work. In fact, I use it as a desk lamp as well.It seems a 'cold' colour temperature like daylight, as opposed to 'warm' filament bulb white. This is due to a stronger blue part of its spectrum, which contains blue and yellow. White LEDs are actually blue LEDs with a yellow phosphor. You can tell this by looking through the lens at a strip of white paper near the edge of the lens with a black background. The very edges of the paper will have a deep blue and yellow tinge.Lens doesn't have a feint green tint like some cheaper glass does. I worried that it was plastic, which scratches easier than glass and might be attacked by organic solvents like isopropanol. I wrote to the suppliers and they said it really was glass, so that is good.Lamp runs cool, which I appreciate when working on boards with tiny electronic components and I am so close that my nose is touching the lamp. I have a fluorescent magnifying lamp at work and that is very warm. The 5V 0.8A power supply is slightly warm, which suggests it is efficient and not overworked.Lamp housing is held together with four self-tapping screws, so it is possible to open and repair. The LEDs are soldered to a ring-shaped circuit board so require soldering irons to replace. However, good quality LEDs should last decades, unlike filament and fluorescent tubes which you expect to have to replace every so often. Some people reported a failure mode where one or two LEDs start flickering. LEDs don't die that way, they tend to slowly dim over time. My guess is the power supply failing. As the voltage comes one, the last LEDs take the current over what the PSU can supply, the PSU briefly cuts out, the last LEDs go out, the PSU turns on, and this cycle repeats rapidly to form a flicker.Nobody's manufacturing process is perfect, so if you get a faulty one just ask for a replacement.I'm very pleased with this product so far. £50 is not so cheap the makers have to cut corners, nor is it terribly expensive.

PURElite, Excellent Product
If you are going to spend over £50-00 including P&P to discover something is over-priced then by far this is the best £50 + I have spent in the last few months --you won't know that unless you buy one---and may not think it anyway--------but what price a good tool? This magnifying lamp comes in two colors as far as I am aware, PC beige or black, available from various sellers, some selling it a good deal more expensively then this seller, I purchased the beige one.It takes just minutes to assemble,( no tools required ), and once done is pleasing and functional in design. It could, imo, do with an additional rise and fall facility via the up-stand but that's an observation not a criticism and the snake head copes well in use.Nice large on/off button on the head and it runs very cool, I used it for 6 hours straight on the day I received it, ( taking iPads/iPhones apart ), very comfortable in use, tiny amount of heat output and the diode lights are bright and light up the work piece, effectively and pleasantly.--- just great. The magnifying glass, ( which is not glass ), is about 6 inches in circumference but as with most magnifiers you will always get distortion around their edges/rim but the effective work area of the glass in use is well over 5 inches which I find excellent. The unit will work off the mains or 4 x C size standard/rechargeable batteries, the battery holder clips to the up-stand or can be fixed to a wall and the unit comes with a big clamp which attachés to the end of the snake head end should you wish to clamp to a work bench/shelf instead of using the stand.I have neither used the clamp or the battery facility so can't really comment, the mains charger and battery holder lead plug into the snake head end of things so is fully portable.Users may find the up-stand a little unsteady when adjusting the snake head, it doesn't bother me but I found if the head needed further adjustment positions both hands were required to acheive this. The snake head its self is pleasingly flexable, not overly stiff and for the most part holds it position.I am left to wonder how for so long I managed with out one of these lamps. No doubt there are much more expensive magnifying lamps out there, with a higher degree of magnification and will/may do a better job. However, I am so happy with my purchase.

Good value
I am surprisingly pleased at how good this magnifying light unit is for the price. It is attached to a solid sound base with a stem high enough to use when sitting in an armchair. The movable stem is long enough to reach while sitting in the centre of an armchair with wide arms and the magnifying glass is large and focused at the same place over the whole glass. By this I mean that the strength does not deminish as it reaches the edge of the glass. It has the same strength and view over the whole piece of glass. I hope this makes sense as I have had magnifying glasses in the past which I could only focus in the centre without having to move the unit. When embroidering or any other close work the chance is that both hands are in use and therefore it is not easy to have to keep moving the glass in order to focus. There is no need to move this magnifying glass as it remains in focius across the whole glass. The LED lights give a very bright working light and can be adjusted to suit. Overall I would highly recommend this unit for close work, easy of assembly and reach when wanting to site in a comfortable armchair to work from.
